Vanishing Point was originally made into a film sometime in the seventies. I missed that version, but it can't be worse than this. Viggo Mortensen stars as Jimmy Kowalski, a man rushing to his wife through the U.S, and gets the police on his back. Naturally, there's a nastyass F.B.I dude, who doesn't believe anything good about him, and basically, they're trying to make him look like the biggest asshole there is. Then there's a radio DJ, played by Jason Priestley, who seems to be working amazingly long days, as every day, than Jimmy is on the road, he stays in the studio, providing annoying commentary.
Anyway, it's not supposed to be intelligent, the idea is, to show lots of fast cars, and cars crashing and flying, but the problem is that the chases are often dead-boring. So, that sinks the film completely.
Viggo Mortensen is as good choise as any in the lead as the man with 2 expressions. All the characters are stereotypes and I felt like I had seen the film 40 times before. The story was ok, but the metaphores were underlined, so that every idiot understands them and there were more flashbacks than Dennis Rodman has piercings.
Rent Blues Brothers if you wanna see decent car bashing action.
3/10
