******** SPOILERS WARNING **************.
The Fast and The Furious
Directed by
Rob Cohen (The Skulls, Daylight)
Written by:
Gary Scott Thompson
Ken Li
Cast
Paul Walker
Vin Diesel
Jordana Brewster
Michelle Rodríguez
Plot:
An undercover cop tries to find who the hell is stealing some big trucks with electronical appliances and similar stuffs.
Meanwhile he meet some cute babe and get into a car racers band.
Script:
Oh Shit!!!!
What do you do when you don’t have any new ideas? It’s pretty simple. You just take an old one, make a few changes and write a new movie.
After watching “Break Point” (1991) a few years ago, I found this flick as a cheap copy.
Both films got only this few things in common:
1-An undercover cop.
2-Gets into a band (racers not sufers this time).
3-He find his new best friend in the group.
4-He point the wrong band.
5-He fall in love with a girl in the band.
6-His “new friend” turns to be the real robber.
7-At the end he participate in the robbery.
8-He chase “the bad guy”.
9-He let him go because he was his friend.
This seems like too much coincidences for me. Also the dialogues were bad and boring.
My grade for a cheap copy: 1/10.
Acting:
Well, is not a movie with Nicholson and De Niro definitely. Paul Walker act for what he get paid for and Vin Diesel was regular. I didn’t complain about Jordana’s work. But one thing is truth….this movie will not be saved by great performances.
Acting grade: 5 / 10.
Directing:
Well, what you can ask to the director of “Daylight”? The direction was very poor. The actors seems like orphans during the entire film, without a guide about what they most do and what they most not do.
Directing grade: 3/10. (he tried in the action secuenses).
Production:
Well, the highest point of the film were the cool cars they showed. Anyone against that? The special effects were barely fine.
Production grade: 6 / 10.
Final grade: 4 / 10. (I’ll better watch Break Point again next time).
