I just saw this for the second time and I gotta tell you, it stroke me a lot more than I remembered. It's one of John Landis' better movies, and I can't really remember him having made a single decent film in ages. The script by Landis and co-star Dan Aykroyd is funny as hell, and the music is awesome. John Belushi acts great, and both stars show great comedic talent.
There are lots and lots of legendary musician appearing in a cameo like James Brown, Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin, and it's worth seeing for the music alone.
And let's not forget about the legendary car crashing scenes, I couldn't stop laughing.John Candy is hilarious in his small role, and it's great to watch these people while they were still on the peak of their careers. Also, check out the ending, where Steven Spielberg also appears in a cameo.

Corrections Officer: One Timex digital watch, broken. One unused prophylactic. One soiled.

Elwood Blues: It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Elwood Blues: Illinois Nazis.
Jake Blues: I hate Illinois Nazis.

Love this movie. Next to Animal House, it's John Belushi's best. It had the two greatest chase scenes on film. I love the one through the mall. Next to South Park I think I'd have to call this my favorite musical.

8.5/10

One of the only musicals I ever liked. It's got action, humour, and good songs. The best of Belushi and Aykroyd!
