SE7EN 8/10

I recently watched this movie on HBO, and loved it. It was truly a fantastic thriller. Brad Pitt, and Morgan Freeman carry less chemistry than a History exam but that'as ok. Fincher's style works on a Fight Club level in every dimly lit scene of this phycotic romp. Most of the way through this movie I really liked it, but it's the final scene with Spacey that really made me really love the movie as a whole. I hated Silence oif the Lambs just cause it was so sick, but not seven. I really dug the crazy ass undertones. And even empathised with the killer's speach at the end. Which is spooky. Oh well. (8/10) drops half a point just for the crapy quote of Freeman at the end.

I love this movie. ONe of the best serial killer movies ever. Pitt,Freeman and Spacey are all great. One of the most memorable endings ever.9/10

I love Se7en. I have long been a fan of crime based films and police procedurals (like this and Silence of the Lambs) almost always hold my interest.
Se7en, however, rises above the constraints of its genre, crossing it with horror (in the crimes of Doe)and providing us with one of the great endings of all time. This is the first film (his second as director) where David Fincher showed himself to be a master of the camera, he never quite gives you everything you need to put together the plot before the characters will and his framing (see this in widescreen or don't bother)makes the horrific images he presents strangely beautiful.

Brad Pitt blew everyone away with his performance, one of the best of the last decade IMHO, showing, as he did with 12 Monkey, that he is more than a pretty face. His breakdown when he realises what is in the box is truly great screen acting.

We are used to Morgan Freeman being good in movies but not like this. He disappears in this film, all you see is Somerset.

Kevin Spacey is also brilliant as Doe whose speech in the car is among the most uncomfortable pieces of cinema I've ever seen.

Eurocat, what's wrong with that quote? I love it, and I thnk it is the perfect note on which to end the film. The cut to black which Fincher had in mind would simply have been too abrupt and allowed you no end to the horror of the previous 10 minutes before the end of the film.

I just thought the quote was lame, and out of place. It did little to rap up the movie, and was very abrupt. It just did nothin' for me. I guess I was sub-consciencely comparing it to Freeman's V.O in The Shawshank Redemption.

eurocat, you mentioned that Pitt and Freeman had no chemistry, and that that was a bad thing. I don't think it was an accident at all. I don't think they were SUPOSED to have any chemistry. they are complete polar opposites(the characters), why the hell would they?
they could have worked hard to make them...compatable, I guess, but what would the film have gained from that?

You are absolutely right. Their characters are on the same side, but they don't really like or respect each other very much. It was a very important point in the film, me thinks.

well let me just give my quick opinion about this flick, since i'm about to run out and check out some hockey gear.

i found SE7EN to be boring at parts and awesome at others. it was never in between. BRAD PITT did an excellent job, he's a very good actor. MORGAN FREEMAN did another awesome job at what he does best...acting. anyway, i almost turned off my dvd player and fell asleep while watching this movie. i was SOOO bored most of the time. KEVIN SPACEY's part was really awesome though. the actors were good, but the film sucked IMO. i would NEVER buy this movie. i am actually upset that i rented to be honest with you. i could have rented something a thousand times better. i actually almost rented SCARFACE for the second time, but i didn't. i wanted to watch something new, but alls i got as an OVERRATED movie about grisly murders.

Final Thoughts:
OVERRATED! This is one of the most overrated movies i have ever seen. i hear people rave about it and i have no idea why. i usually don't give actual ratings to movies, so i won't. i also usually don't go into the negatives while rating films.

I love this film with a passion! It is truely In the top ten thrillers. I love it because it has a very simple technique that so many films never use; never give the audience what they expect. My only complsint is that the pride death was kinda rushed, but the film and esspecialy the awwwwsome ending made up for that!

Seven is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too gory and disturbing for me! if you ever want to to torture me,force me to watch this movie again! i hate this movie!!! the murders are horrific and just really really fucking gross.i couldn't even WATCH the scene with the guy tied to the bed.this is probably the first movie i have seen that i hated just because it was too sick and disturbing to watch rather than because of bad acting or bad directing or something like that.i normally don't have a very weak stomach but this movie just goes too far,i can't understand how somebody could actually watch it for ENJOYMENT,it is so fucking SICK!!!!!!!! i have seen brad pitt and gwyneth paltrow in many other good movies.i like them just fine,i respect them,i can't believe they would even agree to star in a stupid fucking movie like this! i can understand why a horrible actor like kevin spacey would fucking star in a shitty movie like this but WHY brad and gwen!!??? i will never touch or even look at this movie again in my life!!! do not see this movie!!!! it will keep you up at night and make you go crazy!!! it is the work of the devil!!!!!! stay away from it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
