Synopsis:
A man on his way to get his divorce papers signed by his wife, ends up going back top his old ways as a tornado chaser after he finds that his design for "Dorothy" an early warning system for tornados, has been built. He tags along with his ex-wife, fiancee, and the rest of the team as they make their way through tornado after tornado on his quest to make "Dorothy" fly and save the lives of millions.

I Love this movie! I saw the film the first day it came out as a very young kid around 8 years old, and was scared shitless of tornadoes for quite awhile after viewing. The film is basically Jan De Bont (Who was fresh off of "Speed" When production began on this film.) flexing his muscles as a director. There are some damn good special effect in this movie that are backed up by what was in my opinion a strong script by Best selling author Michael Crichton, and so great performances by way of Phillip, Cary, and Bill. I did have some problems with Helen's performance as Joe. I thought she was a bit over the top and not to believeable. I mean, how many people; even strom chasers; would be stupid enough to try and throw their creation into a tornado when the twister is about 2 feet away from them? Not many I would guess. God knows I wouldn't try it! Back to the special effects, DAMN! These are great looking twisters man! EVerytime I saw one of these baby's I thought to myself, Man, They look so real! I have seen 2 tornadoes in my short lifetime, and these look just like the ones I saw. Also, Rumour has it that one tornado in the film is real and I believe I heard Jan De Bont back this up in an interview. If this is indeed true I see no change in the way any of the twisters look, so they must've done a damn good job of making them look real! I have heard alot of people say this film is stupid. Lighten up! It is a popcorn flick, dont go in expecting "Titanic" because you will be dissapointed. Final Grad: 8/10

This is a favorite flick of me and my family and friends. What do me fellow schmoes think of it?

I've seen it, but I think it's hardly worth many comments. In my opinion, it's utterly stupid, boring, unplausible and cliched FX flick. I checked it out a while back only for Helen Hunt, but she's so substandard here that I wonder how she later on in her career has been able to give such fine performances.

Also, it escapes me how on earth could Jan de Bont first make such a top-notch action movie like Speed, and then two of the worst films I've seen, Speed 2 and Twister.

I saw it and liked it. Not very smart, not very tense, not very original, but entertaining and packed with good FX.

7/10
