At it's heart, shivers is an old drive-in B-movie horror flick. But David Cronenberg's feature debut is also sprinked with some of the man's insane genious, which would later make him a cult favourite among horror film fans. Alot of his trademarks are present in this film, biological based horror(parasites), references to "the flesh", and a dark ending, making this something more than a crappy horror movie. The story is simple: a mad scientist has created a parasite that turns people into rabid psychos. soon, it gets loose in the hotel that the scientist lives at and takes over all it's inhabitants. it's a little rough arond the edges, being 26 years old and filmed on a really small budget, so the average viewer wouldn't like it. but it's a real jem for any hard-core cronenberg fan or someone looking for a cheesy horror film. that is, if you can stomach the poor but gross effects.

Score for the cauaul viewer: (4/10) or (5/10)

Score for the Cronenberg fan(me): (6/10) or (7/10)
