Scratch Jon Woo for director. He sucks, only good movie he ever did was Face-Off. How about this;
Director: Someone with talent.
SUPER LOVER MAN

what was that Fokker? John Woo has no talent huh? I happen to think taht John Woo is a brilliant director and you obviously haven't seen his HK films. Hard Boiled, The Killer, A Better Tomorrow 1-2, Bullet in The Head, are all simply great.

"Don't listen to Fokker, he's a genious in his own mind. Just smile and nodd http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif" That's right fokker, you should direct it, and write it too! You the man! "Now he'll come back with some witty little comment, wait and see."

Dont you think that making a movie is a waste of time? We have literally seen every plot twist in the game. The novelty of the game was that you got to play the game as if you were a spy in a movie.

A movie would rock! I don't give a shit if it's predictable! Do you....REALLY? Imagin the scenes, the effects, it might be the first good Video game to film translation.

No, but seriously. Jon Woo may make exciting films, but he is on no way capable of making a film like this. Yes I have seen his HK films, but I still think that he has very little talent. He just knows action. When is comes to character, editing, cinematography (actually, I dont know who does that for him)-overall it could be ALOT better. Oh well, we are all entitled to our own opinion.

I think Hugh Jackman would be perfect to play as Solid Snake. As far as director I think John Woo would do a good job, but he might not be the best choice. I think maybe Luc Besson or James Cameron would do a great job making a Metal Gear movie.
James Logan

I'd take Hugh Jackman as Snake and Val Kilmer as Liquid.
As for director, I'm like Silverload, I think James Cameron would do a good movie. John Woo is a good choice too, though.
And I'd pick Robert Towne for the script cuz that guy sure can write good movies! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

Although I think making a Metal Gear movie (and Resident Evil) would be a horrible idea, I gotta say there's only one choice for Snake:
Bruce Campbell

You know, the exact same thing could be said about a movie based on a novel. No matter how many people have played the game/read the novel, etc, there are always a thousand times more who HAVEN'T. What you have to worry about is THEM. You can't rely on just entertaining the small number of fans out there who have played it.

Just one question how old is Solid Snake supposed to be???? if he's kinda young like in late twenties i'd say Ben Affleck or Jude Law would be perfect....... but if he's in like his early to late thirties i would think that John Travolta Edward Norton or Tom Cruise could easily give an outstanding performance as snake but ed and john would in my opinion be more beliveable then tom...

The difference between the plots of books vs videogames is that the plot of a game is paper thin. This one is no exception to the rule..

That cast would suck. The only one there I agree with is Martin Sheen for Roy Cambel. As for Snake I am with James Logan and Silverload, Hugh Jackman would be the only choice for Snake. And if they did make a Metal Gear movie I think it could do for video game movies what X-Men did for comic book movies. I don’t think they should base the entire cast on the Metal Gear:Solid game. I think they should roughly base it on all the video games, but keep the winter climate. Metal Gear has got the best story I have ever seen for a game. They should make it sort of a Saving Privet Ryan meets The Rock.

i duno if anyone's mentioned this guy, but i'm convinced if there's anyone that could play Solid Snake...in my opinion, it would be...Hugh Jackman! He played Wolverine to a T. Snake and Wolvie are incredibly similar. Both bad@$$es, have stuble, talk w/scraggly voices and kill people for a living. Oh yeah...and they both smoke. Here's my other picks for MGS (i know it wouldn't be possible but still...)
:::The Goodies
-Solid Snake/David-Hugh Jackman
-Meryl Silverburgh-Alissa Milano
-Roy Campbell-Charlton Heston
-Naomi Hunter-Kate Beckinsale
-Mei Ling-China Chow
:::The Baddies
-Revolver Ocelot-Lance Henriksen
-Vulcan Raven-Vin Diesel
-Sniper Wolf-Kelly Hu
-Psycho Mantis-Allan Cumming
-Decoy Octopus- we didn't even really see him in his true form sooo...
-Liquid Snake-Hugh Jackman
:::The Others
-Ninja-Ray Park
-Big Boss-Sean Connery
-Hal Emmerich/Otacon-Rob Schneider
-Natasha Romanenko-Milla Jovovich
-Master Miller-Hugh Jackman
-Donald Anderson-Morgan Freeman
-Jim Houseman-James Coburn
-Kenneth Baker-Anthony Hopkins

Yes they have. And a part 3. Part 4 will be Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty on the PS2.
And one would want to make a movie about it because it's a kickass story.

I think that the first cast decision was the best one, most of the characters seem to have the right look and attitude for their roles. I for one think that an MGS movie (or even a prequal) would be a spectacular idea. With its great storyline and characters, the film would be a hit. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Just an observation. Watch the original Terminator film. In the future sequences, doesn't Michael Biehn look EXACTLY like Solid Snake? I mean he's like too old now, but it was just something I noticed. I say
Solid/Liquid Snake: Whoever can convince us he's Solid Snake and Liquid Snake. Looks don't mean jack unless you can play the role.
Kamikaze Street Vendor
11-23-2001, 01:58 PM
Zhang Zi-Yi as Mei-Ling? HELL NO! I gotta go with Cecilia Cheung or Kristy Yang http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif.
but if there ever was gonna be a movie about this (Why? the game is already like a movie, you don't gotta ruin it for us) I mean, nothing can compare to James Flinders voice of Liquid Snake(who also has done Leonardo and about 50 guys in the horribly old dubbed AKIRA). But if there will be a movie of this. I say make it a Japanese version, since they were the ones who created the great series. Hideo Kojima is the fucking man. I'd say get him and Tom Clancy together to do the script, John Woo could direct this. Hell he's fantastic, alot of people rip him off, on what he can do. But if I had to pick a guy to direct it. I'd say Yuen Wo Ping, Tsui Hark and Hideo Kojima(Throw in Takeshi Kitano aswell http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif). Or throw Ringo Lam in it aswell, cause I know all of them can do great action flicks and they would be perfect for this.
it's kind of hard who could play Solid. He really reminds me of Snake Plisskan from the two Escape flicks. (I think that's where Hideo got the idea for Solid) if Hideo was smart and did the first Metal Gear. I'd go with a young guy, but then if he did Solid first, he had to pick some grumpy guy :-p.
I think Marlon Brando could do a great job playing as Big Boss, but Ray Park as Grey Fox? he would be good. But I'd go with Donnie Yen, Yuen Biao or some other great martial artist.
Plus, it's kinda hard who can be Liquid, Val would do ok, but to me he wouldn't play a good Liquid.
well, that's all I can think of. I really do hope there won't be a MGS movie, since I'd rather play it and watch it, and not just watch it. Plus it would be crap if they made it into a 3 hour type movie, wouldn't be as good. Like how Final Fantasy was done, you needed 30 hours for the whole thing to be complete, lol.
anyways, that's my opinion and I will stand on that.

Snake: Tom Cruise (but if we're watching our budget, then Hugh Jackman)
Meryl: Bridget Moynahan
Otacon: James Spader (there is no other)
Liquid: Val Kilmer (I know there's someone better)
Roy Cambel: Jon Voight
Naomi: An unknown
Mei Ling: An unknown
Ninja: An unknown
Donald Anderson: Joe Morton
Revolver: Not sure yet
Raven: Vin Diesel (although that ass clown would probably ask for too much money)

Director: Robert Zemeckis (aw who really cares, anyway?)

Unfortunately, the best choice for Solid Snake would be Hugh Jackman. I say unfortunately, becuase there is really no chance that he will becasue the character resembles too much of Wolverine. I always thought that the opening scene of Sons of Liberty, where Snake is walking across the bridge, wearing the black trenchcoat, and just the half cigar in his mouth, would make a great opening scene for the sequel!! :D

Snake could do worse than Tom Cruise my friend.
Lets face it here - there's three or four guys that could do the role PERFECTLY. And not many roles can say that, especially in adaptations.
Eric Bana
Viggo
Hugh Jackman
Cruise
And the voice actor (Who I am NOT backing on looks and voice. I dont care who the fucker looks like or sounds like, he needs to be able to actually ACT in FRONT of the camera)

Jessica Alba can't act.
...if she gets back into the cowboy outfit then starts some lapdancing -- possibly removing her top...then I'm all for Alba.
Hell -- new movie idea:
Jessica Alba and Keanu Reeves in "Terry Schiavo and her Dog!"

After how awesome Silent Hill was i was again have faith that video game movies can be done right.
Halo, Metal Gear, God of War, Warcraft, ect, ect could all rock BIG TIME if done right.
I think this will be the new trend over comic book movies in a few years time.
