View Full Version : A STAR WARS movie with no Sith warrior?

Here's a question I've been asking myself.
In the STAR WARS universe, there can be only two Sith lords in the same time: a Master, and an Apprentice. Darth Maul was the first Apprentice of Darth Sidious but he dies at the end of PHANTOM MENACE (no need for a spoiler alert on this one). The supposed next apprentice of Darth Sidious aka the Emperor should be Anakin Skywalker, aka Darth Vader, then. Problem is, Anakin doesn't turn to the dark side until the end of EPISODE III.
So here's my conclusion: there will be no Sith warrior in EPISODE II. I mean, Maul is gone, and Vader isn't there yet, and Sidious couldn't have had the time in 10 years to fully train another apprentice.
So obviously EPISODE II will have Darth Sidious, Boba Fett, probably Jabba the Hutt, some war droids and maybe even a few Stormtroopers, but who's gonna be the bad guy with the lightsaber? There ain't gonna be any, unless we see Darth Sidious fight (imagine him fighting Yoda, though...that would sure kick-ass).
I think it would be a too bad if in EPISODE II the only ones handling lightsabers in fight are Jedis...It would mean no great lightsaber fight like in THE PHANTOM MENACE or EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.
Anyone know what I mean or have an idea who's gonna be the main opponent to the Jedi in EPISODE II?
There is a Sith warrior in Episode II, who can clearly be seen in the new trailers. His name - Darth Tyrannus aka Count Dooku played by Christopher Lee.
P.S - He has a battle with Yoda nearer the end of the film. That's official.

I have known that Christopher Lee was going to be the new Sith for a while now but I must admit I have my reservations.
I just cannot see any dual with Christopher Lee being as fast and as good as it was in TPM with Maul and Obi and Gin.
Maybe they will use some more digital magic, but I have this image in my head of Lee with his "Walker Of Evil" as he fights with Anikin.
Time will tell.
Thanks

So what is the deal or no deal with Darth Detori aka "Darth Rage."

Darth Tyrannus? I dunno why, but I like Maul and Vader better than Tyrannus. Anyway, thanks for the info ak, but...
Count Dooku is supposed to be old. If he's old AND a Sith lord, then there were three Sith warriors during TPM - Sidious and Maul that we see and Tyrannus that we don't. But I though there could be only 2 Siths at a time?
Looks like M.Lucas has a number problem, here. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

There can be any number of Sith Lords at any one time. The caveat is that every Master will only take on 1 and only 1 apprentice.

Personally I think Lucas has lost his touch. I mean that guy was a fool for thinking that he could write a film in this day and age after sixteen years and this is why we have the most profitable disappointment of all time. Now he is working with a screenwriter from that failed "Young Indiana Jones Chronicles." Boy that sure shows hope for the next episode. NOT! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif I am personally disappointed that Lucas ruined the franchise with that heaping piece of turd called "The Phantom Menace." I mean most critics rated the film two stars. Ha, even slasher films get lucky sometimes and get two stars.
I still wonder if we get people who are eager Star Wars fanatics with little of a life are going to be waiting in line for six weeks in advance. I like movies but not enough to wait six weeks in advance. I remember the last time how some eager Star Wars fanatics were waiting six weeks in advance to see "The Phantom Menace." I felt sorry for the people who waited so long to see the film. In my opinion this film was not worth the wait. Heck, I don't think this film is worth waiting twenty minutes or more for this heap of turd film. By the way, anybody know if there are any truth to the accusation made by a guy in one of these movie forums that Lucas "has killed more than a few people?" Stefan's out.

I thought it was amusing seeing images on the news of people over there in America waiting months in line just to see the trailer... http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

Stefan, I actually thought THE PHANTOM MENACE was a pretty good movie. You're mocking the people who were waiting for it too much, but you probably think it's a "piece of turd" because you were expecting too much of it, too. I mean, it's surprising how many people forgot in twenty years that STAR WARS is supposed to be a fun movie to make kids, teens and young adults dream. Simple as that. And TPM did that perfectly.

Oh, no it did not. The dialogue was awful, the length was awful, the pacing was beyond awful (an extremely boring movie), the story was awful, the acting was awful, the special effects looked far too much like a cold, impersonal, artificial bunch of special effects. It's a slightly below average film at best.

I fully agree with ScorchLord. I wsnt anticipating the Phantom Menace at all, and I was still extremely dissapointed. I dont see Ep. II being much better either. Oh, Anaking is beggining his journey to the dark side, it must be better than the last. ......the last sentence was sarcasm, so ya know.

What if they were to CLONE Darth Maul and bring him back? Did you guys ever think of that?

If you remember in the books by Timothy Zahn they had cloned all the Jedi Masters before they went into battle.
So who knows maybe there are an army of Mauls out there as well as Yodas.
OR maybe Darth Raptorus will show up along with Darth Tricaratoptus
Out.....

Totally agree with everybody who bagged TPM and I'm glad some Star Wars freak hasn't seen this board and gone berserk defending it. TPM was an awful film by anybody's standards, but especially to Star Wars fans (even slight fans) of the originals. We had the right to expect and want heaps out of it.
No, you cannot satisfy everybody, but I, like a lot of people grew up with Star Wars and we loved it. We were the ones that wanted to be satisfied with a decent story and we didn't get it. It was inconsistent, badly acted, badly scripted, disjointed, annoying, boring and laughable. It also ruined things that had been established- midichlorians??! The one good thing in the whole film (Darth Maul) barely said a word.
I know I'm harping, but Lucas is just a money hungry, old, fat, rich bastard, who never believed Star Wars was a six part story, what a load of crap! I hate the man and he'll no doubt re-release the trilogy another billion times to get more money.

Ok, I think it's no use trying to contradict you guys and explain why, cuz you seem kinda stubborn.
But anyway, I liked TPM a lot. The story makes sense (to me, and I'm a SW fan like any other), it was well acted, and the special effects and action scenes were excellent. I love the way how the characters were introduced, and I felt like it was exactly what a modern STAR WARS should be.
And Twelve11...one of the STRENGTHS of Darth Maul probably was that he barely said a word.

Hey Common Sense Man, watch for the spoilers with those Timothy Zahn books! Those were the only ones I hadn't bought yet cuz they're coming out soon in pocket edition in France...and you ruined the end for me! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/frown.gif

Nice to know that I am not the only George Lucas hater around here. It still boggles my mind that Lucas thought he could right after all this time. I mean most screenwriters have a short career in Hollywood because they have to upgrade, update and improve their dialogue along as time progresses. Most can't do that. That is why they have a short career. Lucas should have known better. Today it is many times harder to write a good script as compared to the seventies and early eighties. You don't see the screenwriters of "Alien," "The Warriors,"
and the Bond films up till '83 working today do you? Everything you said about Lucas is true. He wants a lot of quanity (money) on a film without putting a lot of quality into it. All this criticism of "The Phantom Menace" and Lucas doesn't really care as long as he is really rich. Lucas is no better than those horror producers who make pointless and unnecessary sequels for no other better reason than just to make a quick buck. Anyways Stefan's out.

C'mon, people, even if George Lucas was a "money hungry, fat, old bastard" (and I say WAS cuz hey, I can't judge), it shouldn't be a criteria to judge his movies. I mean, it's ok if you don't like the man, but a movie doesn't have to be done by a nice guy to be good.
But I gotta agree with you on one point: Lucas is the kinda guy that'll try and make money every time he gets the opportunity. But after all...what's wrong about that? http://www.joblo.com/ubb/tongue.gif
