I was just doing some Christmas shopping on the net and found the Soundtrack for LOTR available on amazon.com but I'm confused.
They sell the "original" soundtrack with 18 tracks for $13 something.
They also sell an "original limited edition" with the same 18 tracks for nearly $30.
But I can't find anything anywhere that says what's so limited or extra about the "limited" edition.
Anyone have any idea?
I can't tell you for sure, since I haven't bought it yet. But I think that the limited edition has a leathr cover and some other things included additional to the CD, like some trading cards of some of the characters among other things! I hope this will help you and I bet you will get more info from some of the guys in this forum that have bought the soundtrack already!

Hmmm. I'll keep checking back. If it's just a special cover and other stuff I might as well get the regular. It's the music itself I'm after.
I think.
Unless well, leather cover and trading cards don't do it for me. Not sure what might warrant the extra $15.

Correct Wilo- the Limited Edition (which I bought) is in a special leather case, plus I think the CD has some special CD-ROM features the other one doesn't. No cards though.

Thanks for the clarifying what I said bskutle!! At least I was close enough!!! Is the leather case really nice!!? I haven't seen it myself, I just heard about it!

It's pretty nice; it's not genuine leather I don't think, but it looks pretty good anyway. The cover is red with gold lettering. The tracks are listed on a separate card which I just keep inside one of the pockets (unfortunately, they didn't bind the booklet- I assume similar to the one with the traditional case CD- like an old novel; they just put it in a pocket on the inside). Still, it's worth buying for soundtrack and LOTR buffs.

I'm one of those soundtrack buffs, so I bought the Limited Edition one. Thing is, here in France, it came out at the same price than any normal soundtrack. Weird.
