LOL man that is insane. I didn't even think there were 4000 theaters in America! I'm not really looking forward to the movie even though I've read all 4 books and loved them.

I believe that it was 7,363 PRINTS of Godzilla that were sent....it opened on about 3200 screens I believe.........4000 screens for Harry Potter will probably give it over 8000 prints.........
I cant wait to see it.....

The film is going to have a huge opening, so it's not risky at all. But I don't really like the current trend where they release a heavily marketed film in as many screens as possible and then it vanishes from the theatres in few weeks. Back in the old times films made money dependent on how good word of mouth they had. Nowadays the film make money based on how good marketing campaign they have. Even if everyone would think that Harry Potter sucks, it would still make at least 100 million in USA, before the bad word of mouth would spread. I think the same will be true for LOTR as well, it's opening on more than 10000 theatres worldwide...

What do you want, Schmoes, the world has gone wild. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif
Anyway I believe the producers are hoping to get some big time money out of this movie. I mean, JK Rowling became multimillionaire with just 4 books, so it's not such a bad bargain...

I happen to think penguins are fucking cool! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif Anyway, this does really sucks. Great movies like Memento has to fight for theaters (well, I had to look forever to find a theater playing it within 4 hours of where I live) and shit like Harry Potter gets 4000 screens. Damn.

I don't mean to be evil here, but I think this film looks fucking shit, it looks so bad it gives Manchester United FC a good image. The film looks so DAMN BAD!
No offence Potter lovers or United fans, I just had to say it, muahahaha!

C'mon, these movie theaters are obviously smart in doing so. Harry Potter is one of the many little phenomenon's that have been cropping up of late. I personally will see it. I've read the books, thank you very much, and they are very clever, witty, and enjoyable.
And as for Godzilla on 7,363 screens, that's not true it was on 3310. http://us.imdb.com/Business?0120685

Uhhh, that thing I said about this movie, just my own opinion, we are all entitled to our own, and so I stated mine. The only reason I've got so much 'beef' with this movie is basically over here in the UK, I can't go 15 minutes without seeing something to do with Harry Potter on my damn TV, whether it be Harry Potter toys, Harry Potter clues at Woolworths, Harry Potter dildos (alright, I made that last one up, but it wouldn't surprise me if it happened!)
Maybe I'd have a different image of this movie if it wasn't so hyped up, I mean... c'mon, its only one fuckin movie! They never made so much fuss over Final Fantasy (sniff, sniff).
Also, UK people, if any of you read The Mirror, have you noticed how every day they have at least half a page dedicated to this movie? And theres always a new kid in there wearing them damn Potter glasses, it's driving me insane, somebody shoot Harry Potter!! Aaaaaaaarrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
*Pulls out a gun and shoots the first Harry Potter lookalike in sight*

Um, Horror Whore, I dont mean to call you a liar, but I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, doubt that a movie can only open in 3,310 theaters, and play on more than 7,000 screens. Obviously you are a little mixed up.
If a theatre has more than two screens, and they show Godzilla on two, multiply that by the 3310 theatres and you'll get 6,620. Give or take the fact that few theatres may only show it on one screen, or other multiplexes may show it on more than two (that was an estimate), the number could work out the same or higher.
I'm hopeless at maths, but, i'm just trying to help.
Another note: People are too dependent on IMDB.....a lot of their facts are wrong as hell!

HARRY POTTER, THE MOVIE was Awful, boring, too long, too sissy, bad acting, terrible special effects, and I slept through 90 percent of it. What a joke! I never read the book, but have to tell you that I think this movie will bomb when word gets out as to how terrible it is. It is by far the WORST MOVIE I EVER SAW. The kid playing Potter put me to sleep over and over. The dialogue was mostly monotone, and the monsters were lame and never hurt anyone except for a little doggie drool. I'm bummed I spent money on that junk. TERRIBLE MOVIE. AWFUL. Ecccch. IT IS A BAD FUCKING MOVIE, and TELL EVERYONE NOT TO SEE IT.
