OK. Here is why Joblo.com rocks. OK, now bare with me, my entire basis is in comparison to Ain't It Trendy, I mean, Ain't It Cool News.

Now, the head guy of this other site was on PI: With Bill Maher, and was totally reamed. Maher was accussing him of getting bribed to give movies good ratings, and telling him, basically, that critics were the lowest common denominator. The guy didn't respond in any fashion. He just sat there giving a very akward grin, and soaked it up while turning red and uncomfortable. He looked like a big, fat, dork-wad!
So, I, in my usual all-inclusive manner, sent him an e-mail giving the top ten reason Maher disliked critics. Of course the list was comprised of ten shitty movies Bill Maher was in. Then I gave a very kind, inspirational note telling him that I respect anyone who speaks his mind.
Did the fucker ever respond? Hell no. He's probably sitting on his fat ass getting bjs from Rob Schneider to promote The Animal.

Then I thought, WWJD? - What Would Joblo Do? Would he have responded? Then I concluded Joblo wouldn't have responded - because I never would have sent him the e-mail to begin with. Joblo would have held his own against Maher. Joblo would have been on his toes and would have thrown those shitty movies back in Mahers face. Recently, I've been seeing Joblo holding his own against some pretty heavy handed insults. Joblo doesn't sit there and giggle, causing his stomach to bounce up and down while he says, "Well... Uh...." No. Joblo has balls!

So, that's why this site rocks.

Don't get me started on Eberts site.

Maybe this is rant, but it's also a suggestion: Keep on rockin', Jo!

Ahh, I love it! Great post!

You know what? I saw that episode of Politically Incorrect as well. It was shown right after The Oscars.

The reason why I think Harry didn't respond? Because maybe, just maybe, it was the truth. I don't want to believe that it was, but perhaps Bill was on point.

Harry probably thought The Grinch was chit, essentially cr@p compared to the original, but changed his mind after being wined and dined.

Or maybe Harry was just playing nice. . . .But that's hard for me to believe because I think anybody else in that situation (and especially if it WASN'T the truth) would have at least made the attempt at defending themselves.

JoBlo's cool though. He would have e-mailed back.

First of all, wow, thanks a lot for the nice things that you all said about me...it's seriously appreciated especially since I don't get praised too often (praise me, praise me...I need the love, sniff, sniff...) /ubb/biggrin.gif

In regards to Harry Knowles, well, I too saw that episode of Bill "ego among egos" Maher, and I can't say that I was too impressed with Maher, actually. The asshole said something like "I've heard things about you, but I don't remember them and don't want to bring them up here...", but never said anything outright to Harry about what he was talking about. In other words, he was basically knocking Harry without any real evidence to back it up and seeing as he thinks he RULES THE PLANET (Maher, not Harry-- or is it? /ubb/smile.gif, he just kept nailing the poor kid. I honestly don't know how I would have reacted in that situation (mind you, I've been a pretty "clean" boy up till now) but I can tell you one thing...I have NEVER shied away from any wrongs done to me in my personal life, on or off the Net, and I NEVER quit when I know that I'm right...just a personality trait of mine...

Having said all that, I am certainly NOT going to stand up and defend Mr. Knowles for many of the alleged "unethical" things that he has apparently done over the past few years (although I think he's been watching himself lately), but I thought that Maher was just a HUGE asshole that night (more than usual, can you believe that?).

And by the way, as a fellow movie site webmaster, I think I've emailed Harry directly dozens upon dozens of times over the last three years or so, and you know how many times he's written me back...?

ZERO.

It's weird because he even praises our site on his site from time to time, but he never writes back. Weird. Guess he's "too busy"... /ubb/rolleyes.gif

But when I met him in San Diego last year, he knew all about JoBlo.com and we talked for a few minutes and he seemed nice. I personally don't mind him not answering his emails, because apparently he receives "thousands" a day (although I find this number a little suspicious), but I don't think that it's NICE. Garth Franklin, on the other hand, the man who runs (debatedly) the BEST movie news site on the Net, Dark Horizons (http://www.darkhorizons.com/), has answered every single email that I've ever written him, and we've actually become pretty good "net buddies" (whatever that means)

And you are DEFINITELY RIGHT about one thing, Irene...I would DEFINITELY have written you back, in fact, I write EVERYBODY who writes me an email back!! (no matter how many emails I get) I mean, GEEZ MAN....you guys are the people who keep the site going, for God's sakes!! Never really understood that other strategy (ignore those who support you.....WHAT THE FUCK?!?)

The only ones that I don't answer are those who simply write to REQUEST a script or something like that (but I've CLEARLY written this on our CONTACT US page, so that folks don't email me about REQUESTS, and yet....every day...there are always a few that keep rollin' in....geez)

Anyway, thanks again and email me ANYTIME if you wanna say nice things about me or offer some words of encouragement....TRUST ME....I appreciate every single one of those emails, ESPECIALLY since they don't come around too often to my sorry ass... /ubb/frown.gif

Now I wonder what Brian Boitano would do...? /ubb/smile.gif

I am a member here at Joblo's, but i also visit AICN sometimes, and i must say that(besides the fact that this site is better and feels friendlier)Joblo's also looks better than AICN. I mean, a whole bunch of sentence fragments lined up on a page is pretty amateurish for a guy who seems to devote all his time to the page.Joblo's, on the other hand, is split into sections and there's a discussion board and dvd reviews, and, unlike AICN, it's not one gigantic MESS.

Also, as I was saying before, this site is so much friendlier.i mean, on his posts Jo seems like, well, your average "JoBlo", which is cool.Whereas the pompous bastards on AICN treat themselves like kings because, for some reason, there site is famous(and I'm sure Jo's will someday).

In Conclusion, Joblo does rock and i'll be a loyal member to this site for a long time to come.

Well I'll join in the props and say: Hail To The King. Having known Jo for a while now, I know he wouldn't of had any problems standing up to Bill "I need a real job" Mayer. You the man Jo!

Right there folks, he's the One, the Only! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

Nah seriously, congrats JoBlo! Personally I try to visit as many movie sites as I can, and I'm a member everywhere I can for free, and I gotta admit...this place here is simply the best there is, in the WHOLE NET. It's got the best look, the best site, and definitely the BEST webmaster.

Way to go, JoBlo!

Oh yeah, and isn't "JoBlo" ten times cooler a name than "Harry Knowles" or "Roger Ebert"? http://www.joblo.com/ubb/cool.gif

It all just starts with the simple fact that the man does what he says: likes to watch movies.

Other people act like they wannabe a superstar, and that is not to say that Joblo doesn't want to be one -- It's just that it doesn't seem like the sort who would say something that he didn't believe in order to further a status. You wouldn't hear Joblo declare himself king, or papa, or whatever.

I'm kidding, I love the site. It's the 1st one I go to when going online. I've said it many times, but Harry Knowles reminds me of a plumper version of Carret Top w/ glasses IMO

Arrow, Bill Mayer huh? I didn't know my grandpa hosted a t.v. show. Just kidding.
Anyways, it's been a while since I kissed some ass (thats what we are doing right?). JOBLO.COM FUCKING ROCKS! Fuck all of the other sites, fuck them up their stupid asses. They are fucking clown shoes. If I want my movie info/gossip and want to chat about nothing but movies, this is where I come. The one and only, Joblo.com.
Joblo, I love you man (now gimme a Bud Light).

Actually I just wanted a vehicle to spew my loathing for Harry Knowles. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif

It just so happens that Joblo rocks.

You... did read the post.... right?

Did everyone on this site lose their sense of humor? My kissing ass comment was a joke. Thats why I went into explicit detail in my post. I love this site, plain and simple. I just wish people would lighten up.
