View Full Version : Hard Trivia: Translated Movie Titles
BASED ON A TRUE HISTORY:
Ok, schmoes. For those who doesn't know (or those wondering about my defficient English), i'm not from US, nor any English Speaking Country. (I'm from Costa Rica).
In most of this countries the movies are renamed to the local language (Spanish in this case). Sometimes the titles are the same, sometimes won't. For example movies as Traffic, Jurassic Park, The Godfather has the exact same name, but in other cases changes a lot.
This is the trivia: You most guess the movie after I gave you the title that the film has in Latin America.
Example:
"The Tiger and the Dragon" That was the title of 'Crounching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' here because 'Cronching' is a hard work to translated.
Then if I say "The Silence of the Innocents", you most reply "The Silence of the Lambs".
Are you ready? The first ones will be easy:
"Dreams of Escape"

The Insider???
You're not correct this time Loner. The Insider has a similar translation: 'The Informant' of something like that.
The movie refers to other type of revelations.

Well, in my case, the movie Revelations, refers to:
What lies beneth
If you want to keep trying what about a movie called:
Fire against fire.
And Claire, as far as I can see, translations to french are similar to spanish ones. (Except for the last case).

"Living without limits"---> GO
"Born to Kill"----> Full Metal Jacket (This one makes sense, check the video cover and youŽll see that right on the helmet it is written "Born to Kill")
"At the edge of danger"---> The Edge
You still have one left: "My poor little angel"
Plus one more: "Interrupted Innocence".

I can't come up with anything for your other 2 titles. in the meantime, try these (Italian titles of English films):
1. Darkness beyond the hedge
2. The woman that lived twice
3. The wings of Freedom
4. Something's changed
#1 and 2 are old classics, #3 and 4 were made in the 90's and are very well known
The award for the stupidest translation goes to ROAD TO PERDITION, because the title spoils the whole movie.

The 4th one rings familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on it...I have no idea about the first one, the second sounds like Hitchcock...I'm lost :)

It's not Braveheart, it's a prison movie; the first one is really hard to guess- HINT: it was made in the 60s and it's set during the Depression; the fourth one won acting Oscars and the second one is a Hitchcock movie

As Good As It Gets is correct, the others aren't. The Hitchcock one isn't that hard if you think about it. #4 is The Shawshank Redemption
