I cannot wait for Lord of the Rings, but my expectations are so high that i am worried that it might not live up to my expectations. Many reviews already say it rules ass, but will it live up to our (or my) expectations? I know this is not really a Top 10 or anything, but, people, just help me out a bit and admit you are worried about the same thing.

Seeing as how this is not a best list of any sort, it doesn't belong here. Seems more appropriate for the Upcoming Movie Talk forum.

Hopefully JoBlo's 7/10 will lower the extra high expectations for the schmoes on the board. Not that 7/10 is bad...but it just proves that this isnt "life-changing".

No, it proves that JoBlo didn't find it great and that doesn't surprise most of us, considering how he's stated on numerous occasions that he couldn't care less about the genre.
After reading so many super-positive reviews from critics everywhere, I have no doubt that it will be a good movie, and since I know the book and love the genre, a great movie for me.
I'm not worry at all.
As far as I've seen in trailers, the FOTR follows very carefully the history told in the books.
This means that the movie, at least will have a great plot.

Im only worried about the length.
3 hours... man
No matter how good a movie is, 3 hours is still fucking long! I just hope I wont get sleepy after 2 hours.

FYI, Joblo gave masterpieces like The Green Mile a 4/10 while he gave turds like Battlefield Earth a 7/10. So in essence he basically liked LOTR as much as he liked Battlefield Earth. And he gave Scary Movie an 8/10 like it was some masterpiece or something. I generally tend to ignore his ignorant reviews.

JoBlo's review was frankly one of the only non-orgasmic reviews I've read that had legitimate complaints. There's this negative review posted over at Darkhorizons, and the main beef of the reviewer seems to be that there's no "sexy girlfight between bikini-clad gold-sprayed hotties Rachel Weisz and Patricia Velasquez which I call The Yummies Return." He also complains that the movie is too "depressive." Hopefully it can succeed without the Not Another Teen Movie crowd... I also predict it's going to do better abroad than in the U.S.

I have a feeling Not Another Teen Movie and How High will succeed and make more money off the uneducated mainstream teen crowd.

You're very worried at a 7/10 rating? Now, if it was a 4/10 rating, then i'd be very worried.

But aren't you being ignorant toward his views on film? Bloody hell, some people...

I agree, I am really looking forward to LOTR, I think it's going to be a great movie, in fact I think it's going to be so good that I bought an advanse ticket for next Saturday, even though I will be reviewing it this Monday. Like I said I am looking forward to this movie, but I am not looking forward to sitting in the same theatre for 3 fucking hours, that's way to long.
How will you be reviewing it this Monday, if it's not until next Saturday that you see it?

I'll make myself more clear, I am seeing it to review it on Monday, and next Saturday the 22nd of the month, I will be seeing it again with my girlfriend because I think it's going to be great, and because she would like to see it.

People claim to be wanting to see it because it looks great, then go on to say, "3 hours is way too long." Good god, just shut up and watch the damn movie!

i havent read the books or seen many of the movie trailers so i wasnt affected by hype. considering the extremely positive reviews from basically every reviewer, im sure it'll at least be a good movie. especially since Harry Knowles said it's on his 10 best films of all time list
