I watched The Princess Diaries tonight and I must say I was surprised with it. It was a pretty decent flick, especially for being Disney and "G" rated. And I'm actually looking forward to the sequel.

Is anyone else looking forward to the sequel?
Does anyone know what it will be about? I'm pretty sure it will take off where the first one left off.

I'm so tired of sequels. There are just so many sequels coming out in 2002 and 2003 it's pathetic how unoriginal Hollywood is. Everytime a movie makes a little money they gotta fuckin capitalize on it. Makes me sick. Now I ain't bashin The Princess Diaries, because I haven't seen it yet. But what kind of story could they possibly make with a Goddamn sequel!

The Princess Diaries is actually left open for a sequel, and it's one I feel should be made. Just like Harry Potter is a setup for the rest of the series, and X-MEN was also basically just a setup for the rest of the series, so is The Princess Diaries. A lot of movies are getting sequels because they make money and they aren't even setup for one, but The Princess Diaries is. When it was over I couldn't wait for a sequel so I could see what happens. So, when you see the movie you'll know what the sequel will be about. The ending is definately setup for a sequel so I'm happy it made money so they'll make one.

Oh come on Horror Whore, I wasn't exactly comparing the two movies, I was just saying that they are kind of both like introductions to a series, just like X-MEN.
Besides, I'm sure The Princess Diaries is better than Harry Potter anyway.

Blasphemer! At least in Harry Potter they have the decency to curse in tense situations... not go.. "You are a freak!" http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif

Well, it is a Disney/family movie so I didn't think they would have diologue like "You fuckin' whore I'm going to kick your God damn ass." The scene where she says "You're a freak" is surprisingly pretty much the only real corny scene. And it really didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. And at least in The Princess Diaries it's teens instead of little kids like the Anne Robinson geek lookalike Harry in Harry Potter (Sorry, I just couldn't resist). But I must say Harry Potter just looks more like a kids movie than The Princess Diaries. If it came down to watching a movie with little kids in it or watching a movie with teens I'd have to go with the movie that has teens in it. I plan on probably checking Harry Potter out on video, who knows, I might like it. One of the main reasons I didn't want to see it was because of all the hype. I usually don't go see heavily hyped Big budget flicks in the theater, unless they don't have much hype. Hell, I want to see The Lord Of The Rings but I won't see it in theater because of all the damn hype, I'm so sick of hearing about it. I felt the same way about Harry Potter, EVERYONE was talking about it and it drove me nuts, it made me not want to see it. Anyway, I'm sure I'll like The Princess Diaries better than Harry Potter, but Harry might be ok too.

i didnt like The Princess Diaries since it was predictable from the start. and what was really annoying was how the lead, it seems, just had to take off glasses, fix hair, and boom! shes a princess

Then I will, they are both children's movies, are mainly fluff and get very boring very quickly.

At least when my wife dragged me to PD It was under 2 hours.

If I had a choice I think I would watch PD again as the plot moves along at a good pace instead of dragging on endlessly.

I know HP will be around for a long time but that doesn't mean it was the best movie of all time as many think.

Out........

Yes I would have preferred PD to be burned before it's release but I am not surprised it made some money.

It was a teenie bopper flick with a young girl as the lead, so the legions of female teens flocked as usual.

Out....

Hell I wont ever watch it but I do not have a problem with it either. I think there should be movies for all the little boys and girls who are not yet JADED! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/tongue.gif

I was wondering if they still planned on making a sequel. This is from Dark Horizons:

The Princess Diaries 2: The sequel to the 2001 sleeper hit is moving ahead quickly. Not only has Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews commited to reprising their roles, Gary Marshall revealed some plot details on the sequel recently to Entertainment Weekly: "It takes place in Genovia. She's going back to be the princess and eventually run the country," says Marshall, who plans to film in Prague as a stand-in for the fictional kingdom. "They're going to try to marry her off, but she doesn't want to do that. And we have a moment where all the princesses from all the countries come together to see if they can do something about the state of the world". Thanks to 'Movie Man'

I was somewhat suprised by how cute and charming The Princess Diaries was. My sisters made me watch it and it wasn't that bad. The idea of a sequel is not stupid because the first one is based on a book with sequels, so I'm sure when they made the movie they hoped it would do well enough to make a sequel or two.

The chick in the movie was pretty hot...I'd be up for seeing more of that hottie.

I was also surprised at how cute Princess Diaries was. I don't think a sequel would be too bad if it was pretty loyal to the book. I haven't read it, but I'm sure any fans of the book would appreciate it. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing that guy with the red hair again. He was cute.

There are already novels that chronicle Mia's adventures after the hit Disney film ends. I have not read them because I was not a huge fan of the original. Innocent fluff, but amazingly easy to forget. This info is from Amazon....

The first one is called PRINCESS IN THE SPOTLIGHT.

Plot: This follow-up to the Princess Diaries, the inspiration for the film starring Julie Andrews, chronicles Mia's crowning as princess of Geneva. The new monarch quickly discovers the power of an interview, as she nearly gets a teacher fired and manages to alienate her best friend and her royal subjects with a few simple sentences. Can she ever earn back the respect she previously had?
