Is there any reason NOT to jump to the conclusion that the sequels will be as good, if not superior? From what I can tell, now, keep in mind I have not read the books, but I hear that the sequel books are better. Considering this, the fact that almost EVERYONE, including myself, love the first one, and that the EXACT same cast worked on the movie, shouldnt it be GREAT? I mean, its basicly like one BIG movie was made, and they split it into 3 chapters. I guess what im thinking is if this one does well at Awards ceremonies, theres no reason the expect that the forthcoming ones will do just as good. Thoughts?

You could have posted this in the Two Towers thread, but anyways, yes - the other two films have far less to cover so everything will be more easily conveyed - the should be as good or better.

I can guarantee that they will be as good or better. Just as the original LOTR is really just one huge book cut into three parts, the film series is really just one long movie. It's sort of like wondering whether the last hour of STAR WARS will be as good as the first.

For the continuances, the back story will already have been established, and they are more of a pure action movie because of it. Hell, there are absolutely MASSIVE battles in the Two Towers and Return of the King. Bring on Helm's Deep! Bring on Pelennor Fields!"
