conventional mainstream horror seems to have taken a big shit w/the recent influx of slashers brought about by Scream (a good movie, i'll admit). so over the past year or so i've gotten into those wonderfully cheesy Italian productions that are so bad they actually become weirdly good on a certain level.
here are some titles from my collection thus far:
The Gates of Hell
Zombie
The New York Ripper
Revenge of the Dead
Night of the Zombies

I've seen Zombie.....it was a lot of fun. Even more fun may have been "The Beyond" by the same director, Lucio Fulci. Best to see in a theater full of people, though.

Zombie (called 'Zombie Flesh Eaters' over here) was a great movie. I still am yet to check out some more of Fulci's works. The Beyond looks like some funked up sheets, so I might have to see that one next!

Technique--if anyone is a fan of Gothic/Industrial music or has some compilations, the way i enjoy a good splatter flick is by turning the volume all the way down and playing a CD...it usually fits the mood of what's happening onscreen perfectly...
