I was searching the internet and my many film related books to see if I could figure out what recent horror film series has been the most financially successful.This was just something I was curious about,and to my knowledge,the figures are accurate.These are domestic box-office figures.A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET SERIES(7 films)-part 1=$26 million,part 2=$29 million,part 3=$43 million,part 4=$49 million,part 5=$22 million,Freddy's Dead=$34 million,New Nightmare=$18 million. SCREAM(3 films)part1=$103 million,part 2=$101 million,part 3=$89 million. CHILD'S PLAY(4 films)part 1=$40 million,part 2=$24 million,part 3=$18 million,Bride of Chucky=$36 million. HALLOWEEN(7 films)part 1=$47 million,part 2=$25 million,part 3=$10 million,part 4=$19 million,part 5=$12 million,part 6=$15 million,H20=$55 million. CANDYMAN(2 films, note:the 3rd film went strait to video)part 1=$25 million,part 2=$13 million. I KNOW....(2 films)part 1=$75-100 million,part 2=$40 million. BLAIR WITCH(2 films)part 1=$140 million,part 2=$30 million(ouch!) URBAN LEGEND(2 films)part 1=$38 million,part 2=$30+ million. note:I am trying to find out the grosses of the whole Friday series but haven't yet.

You see, these films are made by Hollywood insiders, why else would such financial failers spawn sequels.

I just saw something today in the World Almanac 1990 that said Friday part 7 only made $9 million dollars. Good job Jason, you killed all your fans in the 80's so by 1988 nobody was left to watch!!!

The most financially successful? Don't know, don't give a foo-hoo. Best franchise? The ALIEN series. So sue me.

I used to know where a webnsite for the Friday the 13th movies were. All I can remember was number 8 making 13 million.

Who cares how much money they made ! that doesnt mean shit thats all marketing. Look at Blair Witch made $100 million+++ coz of the way it was marketed. Come on I know what u did last summer made a fortune it was awful. Best series in my view has to be Friday the 13th so far there has been 9 of them !! And Scream brilliant films OK 3 could have been alot better but still Wes you kick ass !!!!

yeah i could really care less how much these movies make. its all about what you like.

to me the best series of all time is definatly the evil dead series. there was nothing wrong with those movies. it had awesome killing scenes, one of the best chase scenes ive ever seen(evil dead 2), girls getting raped by trees, and great humor. what else could you want?
