Elm Street broke new ground. Scream took the old school stuff but delivered it in a fresh new way.

I'll go Elm Street all the way. But both series gave horror a new breath of life in their respective time frame.

I will review the two Scream flick next month fer sure...all about timing...

The screams, mainly cause pretty much all the sequles to Nightmare sucked (besides the great Wes Craven's new Nightmare, and 3 was ok). of course the 1st one rocked..

...Elm Street

I bet I can guess your next topic dude...("Scream" or My Ass?)...or you can't go wrong with ("Scream" or Stinky Sweatsocks?) You make the call...

just giving you a hard time Snert...I mean, you are one dude with a lot of questions...(topic examples: "Freddy or Jason?", "Friday The 13th or Scream?"...or the classics, "What does everyone think of the Scream Movies?", "What's the worst Friday?", "Who is the worst movie killer?" and "Exorcist 4?")...keep up the good work Snert, I know you must have some more questions for us...

apples or oranges? That's what the topic says to me. I'll say it again: I don't consider Scream to be a real horror film. That being said if the judgement was made on which is the better horror series I'd go with Elm Street. Overall if you are just comparing series I would go with Scream. Usually the lower the number of films the more effective the series.

id have to go with the SCREAM series..the NIGHTMARE series was OK,well the first 3-4 movies in the series were OK..then,the lasy 4-5 movies sucked!!even the dirctors admit that they realy shouldnt have continued the series after so long...

SCREAM was great, awesome charcters, great laughs, and great suspense....the first NIGHTMARE was pretty creepy, but it just got more insane as the sequels pased..with SCREAM,every movie in the series is solid....CRAVEN knew that the series doesnt have anywhere left to go,thats why he isnt taking it to another sequel..

Like Arrow sticks by Jason and "Friday the 13th," I stick by "Elm Street" and the Kruegster. I agree that the "Scream" movies are better on certain levels - continuity, writing, and acting - but the "Elm Street" series is a sentimental fave for me.

well like the nightwatchman i am a big nightmare fan to. and i think that the nightmare series is way better. the first scream was great and the second one was ok but i did not like the 3rd one at all it just was stupid. the scream series should of stoped after 2. now while the scream series is done the nightmare series will go on with(hopefully sometime soon) freddy vs. jason

Ahh the age old question... For anyone who's been living under a rock I choose KRUEGER all the way. He's just a far more clever and intimidating character. Although I think Scream was pretty good I can't stand Sidney. Nancy on the other hand I feel is a more likable character. Just my thoughts. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.
