What horror movie do you love that when you tell others you like it, they look at you weird and say "are you crazy? That movie sucked!"

For me, it would be "PUMPKINHEAD." I love this movie and all my friends, except for one, thinks it's pure cheese.

I mean, first off it has Lance in it and Lance is the man. Second, it just kicks ass. I mean, look at the monster. Scary! Also, do you see the strong message it has with it? The fact that revenge blackens the heart. I feel it's a cool movie. To bad the sequel was nothing but crap on a stick. I'm sure if they make a third one Pumpkinhead will end up in space. Damn you you squirlly Hollywood basterds!

I know exactly what you mean about "Pumpkinhead." Most of my friends are sort of ambivalent about it (of course, none of them are into horror like me), but some of them thought it was lousy. WTF?

"Pumpkinhead" was the strongest horror movie to come that year. It's well-written, well-acted, and first-time director Stan Winston did an outstanding job. The characters are fully flesh-out and sympathetic, and the movie generates real tension. Plus, Pumpkinhead himself is a kick-ass monster.

Everyone has a right to his own opinion, and to decide what movie is worthwhile according to his own person taste. But no one has ever convinced me that "Pumpkinhead" is a "bad" or "mediocre" film.

Another misunderstood flick is "American Psycho." I was talking about it with a friend of mine who insisted it was "just a slasher movie." Hello? And "Saving Private Ryan" is just an action flick. We didn't discuss it too long, but I think I almost convinced her to revise her opinion. /ubb/smile.gif

This year's most misunderstood flick was Book Of Shadows BW2. I think people went in with expectations and ignored what was really on the screen. It took me two viewings to totally understand this one and fully appreciate the undertones. I would recommend you guys check it out again on tape, you might find yourself appreciating the film for what it is and not for what you thought it should have been.

I think "BW2" was somehow destined to get misunderstood. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that another movie in the style of the original would have been ridicolous. Anyway, I like BW2 in it's own way, but all the time I've kept myself asking why they had to do a sequel at all.( Because the original made money, I understand ).

I think that the common puplic opinion about Horror was definitely marked by movies as "Scream" or "IKWYDLS". For most people I know, a movie about a serial killer in some kind of disguise has become something "usual", something they can't argue with. But take a more "phantastic" serial killer movie like "Pumpkinhead" and you will find people pointing out how cheesy, unrealistic and perhaps even silly the movie is.

Yeah, I agree with you on AMERICAN PSYCHO. I was working in a movie theater when it was out and I saw it many times. The first time I saw it, I was in with a wonderful crowd and it made me enjoy the movie even more. Every other time I walked in there, the crowd just wasn't into it and it brought the level of enjoyment down. But I still dug it.

Pretty much every dvd I own is scoffed by other people whether it be FRIDAY the 13th, Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-A-Rama, Leprechaun in the Hood, The Evil Dead, or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Pretty much all the movies I hold dear are despised by most people. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

A Nightmare On Elm Street 2. I love how it was different from the original. I loved the scene when Freddy finally came to life outside of dream world and tore apart that pool party.

Yeah, at first I didn't like this film when I saw it at the cinema, but now I love it!

That scene with the two hookers is so funny! :D

Blair Witch 2 definately didn't get the credit it deserved.

I liked Event Horizon, but alot of people bash it, so I'd add that one to the list.

It's borderline horror/thriller but I think Stigmata is underrated.

First off... PUMPKINHEAD rules!

second...BW2 rocks hard as well! It has good plot, twists, great development, it's just twisted as fuck.
I as well hated it the first time I saw it...turned it off 1/4 way through it...it was latter on TV a few months after that. I rewatched it and I must say, it impressed me! I really enjoyed it and still do.

Most of my friends and family think horror movies are stupid. So pretty much anytime I get into a conversation about horror, I end up defending the genre. However, I thought Halloween 6 was a great movie and most people thought it sucked. Blair Witch 2 was also awesome and lots of people didn't like it either. Oh well, I guess we're all in our own little world here. We love horror so who cares if anyone else doesn't.:D
