Like a lot of others, I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of Panic Room. And yes, the title is just Panic Room. Apparently, there is no THE in front of it. I saw the trailer for it today (Jan. 5) as a preview before A Beautiful Mind, and at the end of the trailer it said "Panic Room - Coming Soon" (which we all know is in March). So I got to see the trailer on the big screen and it looks awesome.

They show the faces of two of the three "Burglar's" (or whatever they're supposed to be from their true intentions which seem different from plot outlines I've been reading) and one is Jared Leto (Angel Face from Fight Club) and the other was Forest Whitaker (The Crying Game, Battlefield Earth). I didn't get to see the third one's face. Does anyone know who it is?

Anyway, it looks it will seriously be thrilling and being directed by David Fincher, I'm sure it will be. I remember when I was 12 and I saw Se7en (10/10) in theaters in 1995 and it disturbed me some, I'll admit. I went with like eight friends and all of them hated Se7en but me. I loved it from the first viewing. Then there was Fight Club (9/10), I didn't see it in theaters, but I still love it, just not as much as Se7en.

Panic Room is the first film being released in 2002 that interests me a lot. The beginning of the year is always shitty the first few months. I think it'd do well to at the box office because people in the theater seemed to like it from the murmuring I heard.

What are your thoughts on Panic Room? Anything at all, really. Even answering my question of who the third burglar is. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif

I believe that the 3rd robber is country singer Dwight Yoakum (SLINGBLADE)...interesting choice. As for the movie, it's definitely one of the few flicks that I'm actually looking forward to seeing over the first few months of the year, which otherwise, look pretty tame (except for MOTHMAN PROPHECIES which also looks super-cool-- and JOHN Q. which had an enticing trailer!).

Thanks JoBlo. Someone finally replied. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif That is an interesting choice. And I was happy to see it on the big screen because on the net they aren't too clear at all and skip around and shit. The audio always goes, but the picture skips and stuff. So, I was glad to see the trailer on the big screen.

David Fincher is a God. He made SE7EN: 10/10 and FIGHT CLUB: 10/10 which to me, they are both unforgetable masterpeices. I didn't care for ALIEN 3: 6/10 all that much, like most movie buffs. Some liked it, I didn't. Putting that behind us, I'm sure <s>THE</s> PANIC ROOM will follow the same steps as SE7EN and FIGHT CLUB. I can't wait to see it!

BIG BIG Dave Fincher fan here.
Also can't wait, but I am a little worried. I think that even with big Dave at the helm this could be a turkey. It (the story) just looks too boring to entertain me for 2 hours. His past projects have never shunned difficult subject matter, but here he seems to have opted for an easier path. More collaborations with Andrew Kevin Walker would be a good place to start.

Having said that I shan't give a complete opinion until I've seen it.
Fingers crossed.

Saw the trailer at Ali's premiere. Looks edgy, intense and cool. I saw a shot - camera moving through the kitchen, over the counter, towards a back window - does anyone know if it was a cgi shot or if Mr. Fincher is using any cgi shots in the film?

that shot you're talking about looked jsut like the shots from fight club during the condo explosion and defusing the bomb. which they took pictures of like every possible nook and cranny and used cgi to put them together (i think) so i'm sure that's what he did here, looks damn cool though lemme tell ya

This is the film I have been dying to see. The trailer is fantastic and well what can I say, Jodie Foster and David Fincher. What more could you ask for in a film??!!??

Saw the trailer before A Beautiful Mind, and it defenitely looks like its worth a trip to the theatre. Looks like another good one from Fincher.

Jodie Foster is in it, and that is the main reason I will go and see it. She usually never picks a bad script, so I'm excited. Also, with Finchers visual style, it will be one of the better movies to come out this year.

Off the subject, I too want to see John Q, because after that adrenaline charged trailer, who wouldn't?

What would you think of Nicole Kidman playing the part of Meg (Jodie's character)?

Nicole was originally cast as the lead but had to drop out due to a knee injury she got on the set of Moulin Rouge! which is what postponed the shooting on The Others. But she did make The Others because it didn't require her to be as "active" (or whatever) as the role in Panic Room does.

I'm now wondering, because Nicole did drop out whether or not she would ahve done a better job than what Jodie is about to do.
Granted, Jodie Foster is a very good actress, but is she right for the part?
I have been questioning this, trying to picture Nicole in her place and i think Nicole would ahve done a very good job on it, but i think that Foster has one up on her from past expereince. Not saying Kidman doesn't have any experience, but I think Foster is able to cope with this type of a genre a bit better (that's my opinion tho).

From the photo at the top of the page, Foster seems to fit the part really well, coz look how much alike does she look to the girl who plays her daughter in the movie?!
WOW!

I definitely think that Jodie Foster is perfectly cast in this role...to me, Nicole Kidman would not have fit. I can't wait to see Panic Room....agree with you Benny...I too am happy to see her in a film again!

Yeah, but how much alike does the girl who plays Jodie's daughter look like Jodie Foster?!
It's uncanny...really it is!
