I read this a few weeks back in different publications and net sites, and never heard a whisper about it here on Joblo.com, so I thought i'd post it in here.

I, for one, was thoroughly disappointed with the Star Wars: Special Edition trilogy when it was released. Space ship dials were terribly dated-looking, some control windows had no dials at all (something you'd think they'd put in), matte* lines were clearly visible on the old effects, another thing that they should have digitally removed, and there were some shite scenes that really could have been cut altogether.
So - Lucas, is going to release an Ultimate edition of the trilogy sometime late in this decade, which will hopefully actually be Ultimate. It'll probably get as wide a release as the special edition. I think people, by this point, will be really sick of Star Wars though. Who knows.

I am sure there will be many more releases of Ep4-6 before he finally breaks down and releases them on DVD.

Hell if he did that part of his gravy train would be cut off.

And the way the movies are shaping up now he may not make much off of EpII-III.

I would not expect any Star Wars DVD until way after EPIII is released. Then I would expect at least 2 or 3 different versions.

Out....

Well, some of the biggest movies of all time...why not take your time in getting them right and making as much money as you possibly can from it?!
George needs the dough to keep rolling in so he can keep his ol' mansion.

Seriously, how much money can one man actually need?
I'm getting really fucking fed up of Star Wars, only the first two were any good to begin with, I really don't see the need for another cut (especially when the first versions of all 3 films were the best).
Organise a boycott, end the madness.

Yeah, I much prefered the original cuts to the Special Editions. I did go and see ESB when it was re-released in theaters a coupl years ago though. ....good shit.

I've seriously thought of writing a letter to him. I could say that it wouldn't matter how often he releases the trilogy on DVD, he's guaranteed to make a ton of cash anyway! In fact by not doing it now he might actually miss out on a few mil!

Don't underestimate Star Wars fans, there are millions and millions of fans of the trilogy still out there, I mean seriously guys not all of the movie buffs chat on this site or even know there is such a site. You gotta understand that Star Wars is the most popular trilogy ever and it will always be the most popular. I have seen someone mention that Episode. 2 might not make that much, again I repeat not all movie buffs chat on this site and there are millions of Star Wars fans out there so that movie will have no problem topping 300 million dollars. As for the DVDs as a MAJOR Star Wars freak I know for an absolute fact that George Lucas is going to wait untill after Episode:3 comes out, then he will release the whole Star Wars boxed set including A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return Of The Jedi, Phantom Menace, Attack Of The Clones, and Episode:3. Of course, Lucas will release each DVD of the new episodes a year after they come out but he will not release any of the old Star Wars movies on DVD untill Episode:3 is released. That's the story behind the DVDs. As for Star Wars dying down in popularity, that's not going to happen, Star Wars Mania will be around for a long time....
