View Full Version : What was your first GORY film image?

Since my dad was extremely strict about the
kinda films me and my brother watched, the
first gory thing I saw was in Raiders of the
Lost Ark when those angel things were flying
around and melted them. That one geeky german
guy had blood, tissue, and skin fall out of
his nose, mouth, eyes, ears and how his eyes
melted into the cavities. Hit my stomach like
a knife, but since then, gore doesn't effect
me at all, except the Gates of Hell girl that
puked her anal tract out when I was eating
chili with dark red beans for .5 seconds. Uh,
yeah, right, and continued eating! LOL! How
about you guys?

The corpse at the top of the stairs in Night of the Living Dead,I was 10 and it really creeped me out.

First truly gory thing I ever saw, was Evil Dead. I stopped by my cousin's house one day and I walked in right at the Tree Rape scene. Then came the pencil through the ankle, and the chopping up of Scott's g/f. I've been hooked onto horror ever since

My first was the original Night of the Living dead. If that can be considered gory...

The first real gory movie I saw was Texas Chainsaw Massacre when I was a kid and the image of the girl being stuck on the meat hook, I wasn't the same for a while....

loner
02-25-2001, 09:33 PM
My first was in Poltergeist. When the guy ripped his own face apart. I was only like 9 when the movie first came out and that was gory enough for me.

That would be Freddy dragging that poor girl across the ceiling in ANOES i didnt sleep for a week after watching that movie, and that scene stuck in my brain...

Robert Shaw getting chomped by Bruce the shark in "Jaws."

MY FIRST GORE FILM IMAGE, WAS IN MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, WHEN I THINK ONE OF SKELETORS MONSTERS GET SHOT... I USED TO HIDE BEHIND THE COUCH WHEN THEY WERE ON AS THEY USED TO SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF ME...
IN A HORROR FILM, IT WAS COMING DOWNSTAIRS AT THE AGE OF 9, AND SEEING MY OLDER SISTER WATCH THE ENDING OF HELL NIGHT, WHERE THE KILLER IS IMPALED ON A GATE, THAT SCARRED ME ALOT AS WELL.

!MorganOnyx!

If that was the goriest part in JAWS, like NIGHT WATCHMAN said, then that was mine too. I was about 4.

TomJ
02-26-2001, 08:05 PM
POLTERGIEST! I forgot about that scene! That
didn't phaze me one bit. Looked too fake. The
scene for Raiders of the Lost Ark looked TOO
real with all that melting tissue and blood
and parts of bones melting. Surprisingly now
that I think about it, for Ark coming out in
1981 the gore effects were damn good even by
today's standards.

Mine was either poltergist or jaws if you count that gorey.

My first gory image was Johnny Depp in the Nightmare On Elm Street.

I now realized what my first real gore/ horror movie was.... stephen king's "IT".. the first time i watched that it freaked me out but that was like years ago.

Gore 4 All
02-26-2001, 10:09 PM
Alien. I saw that thing rip out of the guy's chest and man was I freaked. I love gore (name implies) and that wasn't what got me hooked. Seeing Predator for the first time and seeing those skinned bodies...I was floored by how sicked it looked. I loved it!

loner
02-26-2001, 10:23 PM
Hey Lannay how old were you when you saw Stephen King's It? I mean it was a TV movie. And a lame one at that.I'm sorry but I don't remember any scene that was very scary in that!

When the blood bubbled up over the toilet in "Psycho II", followed promptly by Vera Miles getting stabbed right through the mouth. It had quite the effect on me when I saw it at age nine...

Poltergeist for me too. That dudes face coming off really messed me up.

Dominick

It was the first nightmare where freddy stuck his tongue through the phone. But the first GORY would have to be some damn movie i can't remember the name of and it's pissing me off, i think it was DEMONS, it was something about a people turning into demons by touch or biting, i dont know, some shit, and then i remember it was a night club scene and then this chick starts to turn into one in the bathroom stall and she gets boils all over her face and puss comes out, anycrap, i think it was Demons.

TomJ
02-27-2001, 09:07 PM
Are you SURE that wasn't in the THEATRE? If
a metal shaped demon mask was put on by some
black girl, she was the one who started to
feel sick, covered in boils. And one other
gory scene where she dug her claws into the
blind guy's eye sockets, that was Demons.
Tom J.

Annie Wilke's messed up face at the end of misery. It doesn't seem that gory now but it was then!

Ahh that is classic my friend... as far as I know my first gore image was either the first victim in THE DREAM WARRIORS or the first victim in the original NOES. I can't remember which one I saw first. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

The first gory image I can clearly remember was Johnny Depp getting swallowed by the bed in NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET... that blood fountain shocked me, I must have been five or six when I saw that.

Another image that has stuck with me all these years was in VAMPIRE HUNTER D... when some guy gets repeatedly slammed on walls and then his head blows up in very messy detail...

When I was 13.....Marcie's axe-in-the-face in the original FRIDAY THE 13TH. Even Annie's throat-slashing, Jack's arrow-through-the-throat or Mrs. Voorhees' decapitation didn't bother or disturb me as much for some reason.

The only gore/grue I remember as a kid wasn't even really that gory but it made me love horror, was Michael jacksons "Thriller" I was 4 every time it came on I would hide, then my dad forced me to watch the "Making of" so I wouldn't be afraid and it made me become obsessed with Makeup Effects and anything zombie related. Now nothing really gets to me... Not even real gore... The only thing that scares me is Michael jackson.

gorysnoopy
06-26-2003, 04:24 PM
I have to agree,Fulci Fan,"Thriller" freaked me out big time when I was a kid.But for me,the first really gory image was Jerry Dandridge's watcher's(can't remember his name)demise in Fright Night.I was 10 years old and seeing it on the big screen freaked me out for a long time afterwards.

I'd have to say when I was 5 or 6 and I snuck downstairs and saw the beginning of Robocop where the guy gets blown away by the ED-209 at the start. Even though that scene was trimmed a bit for gore, it still was pretty horrific for me at such a tender age, but now I barely remember it. Take that, Tipper Gore!

Psychocandy
06-28-2003, 03:11 PM
I think the first really gory movie I might have seen was David Cronenberg's Shivers. A pretty fucked up movie for a ten year old kid to watch. It gave me some pretty serious nightmares.

I remember seeing alot of movies when I was a kid, my mom didnt care all that much what I watched. I used to watch IT alot and it scared the crap out of me but I watched it every day...to this day that clown scares me.

My first gory scene was Frank's distrubing yet cool death in Hellraiser. For a kid that was gruesome and very brutal. But i rewatched it years later and Hellraiser is now one of my top 10 horror movies!

That would be Mrs. Voorhees' decapitation in F13. Funny story: I happened on it by accident. I was just flipping through the channels and happened on it at just the right moment. I love the gore factor now but when you're 9, that's not a fun way to lose your gore virginity. . . I felt so violated. . .

Tagia, SAME thing with me! I swear, when I saw half his torso with all his white slimy guts, and him barfing and spewing up white blood, I couldnt believe it! Runners up would be when the alien bursts outta the chicks chest in the hives in "Aliens" as well as the kid in the movie "The Gate" where he has an eyeball in his hand, and he stabs it with a shard of glass! (Basically Aliens and The Gate were the 2 that FUCKED me up when I was little!)

God how I love horror... Unfortunately I just watch it for the sake of some good fun, since NOTHING can scare me, or gross me out at this point... Ah well, maybe someday it'll happen again!

I don't know, sure that's one of the best movies ever, but Scott's way of getting the cast's real reaction with that scene wasn't really nice. Ingenious, but not nice. The camera guy puked after filming that, fer cryin' out loud!
