Did anyone else on here see this strange sick film from Germany?
It's about the escapades of a corpse fucking couple...and the last scene was both sicking and hilirious at the same time.

I've never seen it, but I've heard this movie is terrible. Not in a shocking and offensive way, but in a boring, badly-made way. I'd still like to see it, if for no other reason than to say I've seen it. It has a hell of reputation, but like, say, "Maniac," I don't think it can live up to it.

Yes, I must say that I have seen this film
Didn't quite understand how a guy gets a job cleaning up car wrecks???? And bringing the bodies home for his wife????
Weird, sick, disgusting film
Actually thought it was alright.

Yes, I do believe you are missing out on something.
Well, at least I think so. Don't watch this movie if you are even the LEAST bit squeamish. It has some really disturbing images (Sex with a dead body)....... but, if you are looking for an interesting but disgusting film, this is it.

I've seen it too. Don't raise your expectations too high people! It's almost an home-made movie. It wasn't half as weird as I thought it would be, but without giving anything away, there is one scene near the end that will make you puke! It was followed by a sequel : "Nekromantik 2 - The Return of the loving Dead".

After reading this topic, I'm suddenly curious to see this. Where the hell do I find this movie?? I checked ebay but found nothing, and I'm sure this isn't the type of flick I could pick up at Blockbuster?? For those who've seen it, is it even worth buying?? or watching?? Please help!!

Hard to believe this is the only Nekro thread going!

Arthouse classic or pretentious wank? The field is pretty evenly divided on this one, you either love it or hate it Although kudos must be given for even attempting to approach the subject matter, is the sheer taboo breaking nature alone, what gives the movie its appeal? The Effects are strictly amateurish, with production costs seemingly non existant, admittedly with the film being subtitled (almost illegibly at some points) its difficult to really pinpoint the acting abilities, but still stripped down to its bare fabric, there is something about the twisted tale of love and dependency that really struck a chord in my twisted psyche. Personally, although i wouldnt list it in my all time faves, or really harbour any desire to offer a repeat viewing. I will still personally afford it my respect.
However I may have been looking too far into it and making up my own answers.
Although not recommended for its entertainment value, Nekromantik is, like it or lump it, a milestone in groundbreaking cinema. It may not have been executed well, but you should make effort to see it.

(Another one for the foreign Horror forums!)

I'd say "go for it." Despite budget restraints, poor photography and miserable editing Nekromantik is a haunting, mesmerizing little film. For nothing else, at least see something with such audacity. The ending; which is actually rather comedic, is one of the most memorable.

The Barrel Entertainment DVD comes highly recommended. The film looks as good as it'll ever get, and surprisingly is overflowing in extras.

Holy moly, this is an ancient thread -- back from the dead. I don't even remember writing that post way back in March of '01.

Nekromantic is one of those movies that I'm curious to see, but can't find anywhere to rent it from. And I'm certainly not going to shell out 20 - 30 bucks to buy it without knowing whether or not I'll like it.

I saw this film a good few years ago (and it's sequel, which replaces the male role of the first film with a female character, and includes the most novel use of a broom handle that I've seen in a movie ever! I'm sure you can work it out for yourselves.... ;) )

I actually liked the film - yes it'a a taboo breking film, what with it's scenes of necrophilia and urination, but it's also good, cheesy, low-budget fun! The final scene of the first one is a scene that I will never forget - it's comedy, and it's sick, all at once! This is a fairly unique film (its' sequel aside) which I would recommend to those who like their horror films extremely left of centre - to everyone else I would say you could probably live without seeing it. A sleazy grindhouse classic! :)

(If you DO see it and like it, you might want to check out his follow-up Der Todesking, but make sure you get an unrated version and if you're male be prepared to wince!)
