What was your first horror movie that scared you and why? Mine was the Exorcist- I still cannot watch this movie with out covering my eyes at some point, and still have nightmares. The reason it scared me when it was because the obvious- She looked completely and totally evil- The reason it scares me now- is the same. That is what makes this movie the ultimate in my eyes- there is no way I could ever watch it and NOT feel the same way I did as a kid... Anybody else still get that same feeling from a scary movie? Maybe it's just me...

When i was a little kid i use to cover my eyes and use to have nightmares over horror movies. But now no matter how scary bloody and creepy the movie is i'll watch it. The Excorist was one of the scarest movies when it came out in 1973. So if that movie still gives you chills i can see why.

I personally think The Exorcist is STILL waaaaaaay ahead of its time. There are still many scenes in that film that are very graphic even for todays standards. It is the scariest movie this man has seen and will probably stay that way. The sequels were gay, but when are sequels not gay? (i was kidding on the last comment, there are lots of sequels that are good) /ubb/smile.gif

Psycho didn't necessarily scare the wits out of me, but it was scary and one of, if not the first, horror films i saw.

The earliest movie I've known to scare me as a child, I don't even remember. My parents tell me about it a lot. I'm talkig about Trilogy of Terror, the 1975 made-for t.v. movie starring Karen Black. I don't know of anyone who isn't scared of that bastard little Zuni Fetish Doll. Check out my post on this film in the horror section.

...I don't know the films name. I was about some aliens, whose gigantic spaceship was hidden underground near a small american town. They captured people and made a hole in their neck. Then they fucked up with your brains somehow and made you their slave. I think I have seen two versions of the same film. I saw the older version first and it scared the hell out of me. I was about seven years old...

Tuuka, the movies name is Invaders from Mars. The old one is the one everyone remembers, while the remake, directed by Tobe Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) is a never-ending crapfest.

Anybody remember Scaners? Man, those shots of the guys heads imploding were enough to make me think twice before I used my psychic powers. /ubb/smile.gif

Alien, but that really is Sci-fi, although it is quite scary.
First horror I can remember was probably Friday the 13th part 2. I was never a big fan of the series though.

I had seen many horror movies when I was young (all the Alien movies), but I was still a horror virgin until I saw the first Nightmare movie. I was about 9, and I rented it on video. It scared the living shit out of me more than I'd ever been scared by anything. I've been having nightmares ever since. Has anyone else here actually had a Freddy dream? That is a very disturbing experience.

Scream... Now i dont get scared by it at all but i remember it like yesterday..
I used to be a whuss, I couldn't even read goosebumps without having nightmares. So one day i thought i'd see Scream ... rented it ... poped it in... AHHHHHH , I was under my blankets with my ears covered. and then to top it off, My home phone rung the exact same time as the phone on scream did. I was about to shit my pants...
Another would be Evil Dead... my first zombie flick. No one was home but my bro.. now I was still kinda in my whuss stage but kinda faded out of it ... Thunder and Lightning outside... get my blankets just in case, poped it in pushed play, put the remote right next to me just incase. I get to the part with the cards and the girl turns around and says every card... THE LIGHTS GO OUT... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH... /ubb/redface.gif... this is so embarrasing, so i picked up a bat walked up the steps.. and THE PHONE RINGS!! ... I DROPED THE BAT AND RAN DOWNSTAIRS AND JUMPED ON THE COUCH AND I COVERED MY SELF W/ BALNKETS... The phone stops ringin, and i go up and get the bat... run all the way up to my brothers room, and the bastard hides in the closet and jumps out and scares the shit outta me !!!! That was the scariest moment i ever had.

The first horror movie I can remember seeing in full was Freddy's Dead. Everyone I knew had seen it, and I had to, too. After that, I became obsessed with horror, and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
The first movie to ever scare me was Carrie, which I saw only a few short weeks after seeing Freddy's Dead back when it first came to video. The ending of Carrie still gives me a wiggins! Eww that hand reaching up and grabbing ya! AHHH
