I think they should make a movie about some loner guy who is about 40 odd who was once married, had a good job, and life was great. But suddenly, for reasons the people who live in his town don't know about - his wife disappears, he loses his job, and his life goes downhill. He even stops speaking, and barely mumbles a 'hello' when people who have known him for years see him in the streets. He becomes a total recluse, and almost appears to have become less intelligent. The kids in town talk about all sorts of legends - how he attacked his wife with an axe, and the bin bags he carries around his back yard are full of severed body parts. But nobody knows the real truth. But one day, somebody tries to find out and is thrown into a world of things so inexplicable the movie will seem as fucked up as PHANTASM.

I think a good idea for a horror film is to take a scary movie that you really think is the greatest. Study it then look at all the rules and motives are for the killer/killers. Then take that into consideration and use your own ideas to make the movie.
Like if you have ever seen a movie and you wanted the killer to kill someone or do something that you thought could really change the movie then use that to make your movie.
use other movies to inspire you.

morgan good idea. i think a great movie is where you see the killers view through the entire movie (it would be great being in lectors view while he kills his victems.)just like in the beginning of halloween.

I wrote the idea so i could make that funny title at the end. But there really is a guy where i live who is just like that. There are so many 'urban legends' in relation to him. I am really interested in knowing what he's all about! One of the stupidest rumours i ever heard about him was when i was about 12, someone said he didn't talk much cos he was french - What?!! Oh, and he IS supposed to have attacked his wife with an axe!

I recently put a post similar to this one up. I recieved a great idea from a user named Bearazz. He said that he always liked the idea of someone who answers phones for some reason. They one day get a call and it's someone being killed. Then tie it all together.
I took the idea to heart and am currently working on the screenplay. It's about a guy named Barry who works for a student run Suicide Hotline. /ubb/smile.gif

Anywho, maybe a film made entirely in real time from a killers point of view, about a killer breaking into a house, preparing, and finally killing the person who lives in the house at the end. That'd be cool, wondering if the person makes it out or not. Dunno sounds cool to me.

I don't know why I'm just getting around to reading this topic now, but MORGAN, I love the story about the seemingly crazy guy in your hometown, and the local urban legends surrounding him. That alone is the basis for a great screenplay!!!

I wrote a horror script a few years back but nothing really happened with it. Its about two (guy) lovers who are serial killers. They set off and they brutally kill straight couples and meanwhile two police, a burnt out cop and a young rookie try to catch the killer. After a year of nonstop serial killings the killers start piecing together that these two police are trying to track them down. The two killers than start to leave little clues for the police. The police being regular horror movie dumbasses have no idea what it means until it happens. Well seeings how the killers arent having fun doing this they start to just flat out leave notes saying who they are gonna kill. Before to long they kill the rookie cops girlfriend and that started a big brutal war of murder, hate, and revenge.

The movie will stretch out over 4 years of these characters lives.

Tell me what you think of it.

Yeah, this dude really exists! Funny story - yesterday i was driving back from work and this dude was on his bike. I overtook him as we came up to a junction. He stopped behind me. I had my window down and some vibes playing, looked through my rearview and he was just staring at me smiling. I didn't konw whether to laugh or speed off! Maybe he was laughing at my choice of music, but i doubt it. I listen to fly shit!

P.S. - Once i've finished working on my other two scripts, do you think i should give this 'movie' a shot?!

I've been readin over the last few posts, and it got me thinking about this one guy we use to call Mental Mark or M&M when my sister, brother & I were little. He was an older guy about 18 at the time and he was obviously handicapped, and we actually made it a game some times to tease him and get him angry enough to chase us, but we were stupid little kids, cuz this guy was seriously messed up. He use to expose himself to girls if they were around, ran over my cousins foot with his ten-speed and the most horrifying thing he did was actualy bash this girl's forehead with a wooden pole. She had to ahve about 18 stiches, all because she didn't know who he was and he broke the spokes on her new ten speed bike, so she went after him and did something to set him off, i mean we had cops and ambulances, it as some crazy stuff and i was like 8 at the time. I can't remember what happened to him, they probably had to lock him up or something..Now, why am i telling you all of this..well, maybe this could be something for a script idea..It's got the huge moral thing about being cruel to people and look what happens..I mean kids can be cruel, look at all the recent school shootings, most of that happened because kids were picked on...Oh well, i'm at work and bored and rambling..so, i'm going leave to someone who wants to expand on this..if ya need more ideas or help you know where to reach me.

I came up with this idea because I started to realize you dont hear about many homosexual killers. So I figured Id express that you dont have to be a straight and sex crazed to kill people.

I've written a novel called "The Tests" that's all about a female serial killer who puts the victims in horrific moral dilemmas where the choices have life or death consequences. Then she audio records the events and leaves them for the cops. Not as clues, but in the name of scientific investigation.

For instance, the opening moments revolve around a husband/father of two whose wife has just been murdered by the killer (named Mercy), and is chained up in the basement of his own home. Mercy then instructs him to cannibalize the corpse of his dead wife while the children watch, otherwise she'll kill him and the kids.

It was really hard to write because I'm actually an aspiring screenwriter and writing books is an entirely different world.

I also have other horror ideas and scripts written...but this is the newest.

The ending is horribly ambiguous (I was in a rush to meet the deadline) but I've changed it since. It's called I SAW A SHADOW.

My idea may sound really shit but have a a school psychologist treat a kid with split persona then one day the kid kills himself coz he talks about how his other half wants him to kill people! Well an investigation is on the way over the death soon The psychologist gets threatening letters from people who are the dead persons friends... To make it more cool and different frmo movies have her track down the person who is doing this, but in the end she realizes that the kids friends had nothing to do with this and soon people are being murdered off one by one just as the Kid was telling her when he was alive of how and who he would kill coz of what the other persona was telling him. she finds his diary and reads all the deaths of people and then her name appears on it and how she would die.. The twist of the movie??? She is the one killing all of them,before the kid dies his persona goes into her and she does it but never really knew it until the end when she looks into the mirror and sees the kid. then she kills her self! I don't know its sounds interesting to me maybe I should work on it abit more!

The idea for a horror movie doesn't need to be too important, it seems like. What needs to be good would be the way it is made. You have to know what scares people and what sort of sub-concious symbols you can use to f*** with them. Most horror movie directors(good one's got ideas from their nightmares. It's like what Randy said in Scream,"It's the millemium motives are incidental."
