I saw the trailers for this movie and, I must say, it made the hairs on the tip of my penis stand on end. So does anyone know when it's coming out? Seems like it did well in the French Theaters. Also, do y'all know if it will be dubbed or subtitled? Either way, I'll be there with both shoes on.

I am sorry I cannot answer your questions, but did want you to know that there are some very interesting web sites out there on the topic of this movie. My favorite was the "Beast of Gevaudan". I felt it was quite historical. Really got me jazzed up for the movie.

I heard somewhere, that this movie was shot both in French and in English. Anyone know if this is true?

what? You're telling me that having a long hank of unbraided hair at the tip of one's penis is a weird thing?

Parachi- Yes. I saw the Bro-of-Wolf trailer at the movied (the local art house before Aussi comedy Better than Sex). I must say that the trailer was good. It had both that stylistic Gothic Romaticism look of the Crow or Queen of the Damned as well it had that overblown John Wu chopsocky look. I know we say this alot but, if the movie is as good as the trailer, then, it should be pretty good.

[Just a thought. But I was watching the DVD of Crouching Tiger Hidden Draggon -which I got for Christmas- and during the audio commetary by Ang Lee, he said that "martial arts movie is lot like old fashion musical -- very much stylistic and overblown." Good Gawd! The man is right! I always HATED those musicals and considered it a good thing that they almost never get made anymore but- Ang is right! -martial arts movies are just a resuraction of that genre of movie.]

And P.S. Parchia - Please, NO more information about your penis -even if it is a cross between a Timber Wolf and a Grizzely Bear.

Well, folks, I don't wanna brag here, but...

As I live in France, I already saw BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLVES (LE PACTE DES LOUPS in french). I don't want to tell ya anything about it that could spoil it, but just a few words: IT KICKS ASS! When it came here, it was dubbed "best french movie ever" and Christopher Gans became the "director of the future" down here. I tell ya, it has mystery, action, nudity and Mark Dacascos -- if that doesn't kick ass...

A TV spot for it just ran about 30 seconds ago, and I've got to say, it really got my attention. The style looked a little too CROUCHING TIGER for my tastes, but the setting is very intriguing.

Is it dubbed? The movie looks kickass, but if it is dubbed or subtitled, that will damper it for me.

Warrior is right...I mean, I like foriegn films and don't mind having to read subtitles for 2-hours, but I've got to be in the right mood for that. However, dubbing can turn a really good movie (like a Chow Young Fat or a Jett Li) into a STUPID movie where the Brit accented dubbers make the characters sound like radio commerical voice over people.

God! Know I sooo - Want to see this movie.

Are there any French schmoes out there? Is this werewolf thing REALLY some legend from the country lands of France? Tell, us about it. Do people in that region BELIEVE it? Tell us.

You know what? BOTW is a really tiring movie! I saw it some MONTHS ago-in Greece BOTW is a very very old movie now- and i still rememember how tired i was in the end of it! All those stylistick camera movements, and that 10 movies in 1! Kung fu, horror, action etc... It's a movie that it's interesting but finally it is soooo awful that you forget about it! I loved Mission:Impossible-2 it rocked! But the brotherhood it is just a plain show-off, the camera DOESN'T stop moving for a second! Not in a Raimy(or David Fincher) kind of way, it is a like a bad J-LO videoclip! TOO MANY PICTURES and NO SUBSTANCE... SEE IT, to BELIEVE IT! As i said i love movies with a video-clip style but BOTW is over the edge!

Please read my response above. There are some really great sites on line that talk about this. It sounds as tho history really believes this is true.

if you can't watch a movie with subtitles, then you are a big wuss.:-p Dubbed movies are shit. But if BOTW is subbed, I'll be a happy camper http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif. IMO This movie doesn't look like "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" (I love CTHD but there are better Kung "Wire" Fu/Romance) Ir has like a darker tone to it, and it looks sweet. Remember, this is coming from a guy who likes Hong Kong movies more then Hollywood shiat.... http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

Brotherhood of the Wolf does Kick ass.
A great story, script, acting, twist etc.

My only complaint is that the fight scenes (something that the film does rely on) are not shot particulary well.
Don't get me wrong they are amazing, it's just that they are either too showy or they don't have the best camera angles for that particular kick to the groin/ punch to the temple.

I could forgive them if Jerry Fuckheimer did it but the French..... I expect better!!

Does anyone know where this is going to be released in the U.S.? Most sites say it will have a limited release in the States on Jan. 11 (This friday). It's not on the listings of any theatre here in Louisville. I'm wondering because this film really looks like it will kick ass.

It was reviewed today on the tube, and as I work in TV I watched the review.

She said it was good, and it was based on an actual myth. Whether this myth is based in fact she did not say.

She said she liked it until the end when it just gets too unbelievable.

Of course I have not seen it so I cannot say, I may go to it as it does look interesting.

But I would think a subtitled action flick a little hard to deal with as you would miss have the action.

I do not liked dubbed things, except maybe anime.

Who knows after it is out and I find out if it is dubbed or titled maybe I will make my decision then.

Out......

i just saw it! it's rather long in some places, but overall i liked it. i don't think this movie is for everyone though. some people might loose their paitence if never experienced a foreign film before. i only have 1 problem with it, but i'll have to tell everyone later or it will spoil it. i do hope someone will make an action figure or model of the "beast".

WHY CAN'T YOU DEAL WITH SUBTITLES??? IS IT SOOOOOOOOO HARD? I MEAN, I HAVE WATCHED EVERY FILM WITH THEM? Nothing wrong! In greece all films are subtitled( why doub them? Like French, or Germans or you do!) . It's far better to hear what the actually say, what the real voice of an actor is! Doubing is a stupid process! I can't stand it and don't want it! I mean someone speaks and you slearly see that's not what he said! It is rather stupid...

And i really don't understand... how fast can you read? ah? And you don't miss any action! Because during it, there no subtitles!(and propably NO script) so..?

i've owned the french import dvd for a couple of months now and i have to say the cinematography looks great, and the fight scenes are exciting, but the film has no idea what it wants to be.A horror mystery, political drama, love story, martial arts flick, french travelogue, detective story. It promised so much, but in an attempt to include so many elements, the director has spread himself thin.he should have decided on a theme and concentrated on that.i must warn the people who were excited by the trailer, the dirty little secret is that the wolf plays a small role in the film, long stretches of time go by without any mention or sighting of it.it will leave you wanting more,no doubt, because the scenes with the wolf are the best, and they sound great too,its unfortunate that its being billed as the main attraction, when in fact its only a residual character.the fight scenes are exactly what you experienced in gladiator(the sped up frame rate, pause, sped up frame rate, slo mo,normal frame rate),the man who comes to investigate the recent murders of local villagers(sleepy hollow),the sets and cinematography look exactly like sleepy hollow too, there's also some local bad guys who seem like they walked over from the set of the mel gibson classic road warrior.i wouldnt compare this too crouching tiger or matrix,it doesnt appear that they used wires, the fight scenes are very standard,no flying ninjas in this one or 10 punches thrown in 1 second claptrap.so what could have been excellent is merely very good,i felt like i ate a couple of slices of great tasting pizza when 4 would have totally satisfied me.
