I'd hate to admit it, but I really enjoyed TCM4:A New Generation. It's been a fair while since I've seen it now, but I really enjoyed it when I saw it.

It's not a "horror" movie in the true sense of the word, but I don't think it tries to be. In an era where films pass themselves off as horror simply by being "ironic-horror" (the "Scream" trilogy are the most blasphemous, pathetic movies I've ever had the displeasure of watching) it was good to see a simple slapstick horror movie. It reminded me of, but not anwhere near as good as, Evil Dead 2.

C'mon, any movie where the government are running a "scare" campaign like TCM4 did is the gear as far as I'm concerned! The part where the guy in the suit explains to the family what is scary is one of my favourite movie moments. Really, what is scarier than being tied up and licked by some sleazy guy? Gives me the creeps just thinking about it.

Next Generation was a great movie! Renee Z. made a good scream queen ,and it was fun watching Matthew McConnsomething as a loony.
It's a perfect companion to the original Texas.

I agree, it is very underrated. There wasn't all that much to complain about (although the fact that Leatherface has gone from a deranged psycho killer in a bad way to a nice deranged psycho killer kinda pisses me off).

I think it's the same as the rest of the sequels.... sucky, nothing to like about it. I mean, it's exactly the same story.

I'll agree with SonOfMyers that it is virtually the same story in Pt4 as in the original. I just admired the different twist in 4... why does the family do what they do? Because the Government, or the Men in Black, or the Aliens tell them to. It's not some ham-fisted revenge plot that we've seen done in 99% of horror movies (killed by *insert parents/camp counsellors/neighbour's dog/other here* and now he's back from the grave for revenge). I guess I just appreciate movies that deviate from the norm, make you think (a little).

Oh yeah, thanks heaps to everyone who replied to this thread so far, makes you feel good that people have replied to your first post!!

I didn't think this movie was too bad either. I haven't seen 2 or 3 yet, but apparantly, they're very bad. The performances in TCM 4 are mostly good, but a lot of the movie is a rehash of the original.
But RENEE is a babe!

I thought Part 4 had some pretty bad acting (by the secondary characters, not the leads), but other than that, I thought it was pretty damn cool! I even LIKED the new cross-dressing Leatherface! This movie had some pretty sick stuff in it (unconcious kid gets his neck snapped, dying girl gets her head repeatedly stomped-on by the crazy dude). At the least, I liked it much more than Hooper`s own Part 2, and the dreadful, lame Part 3.

What does everyone have against Part 2? I thought it was very cool. And there was some sick shit in it. Part 3 is definitely the worst...it really doesn't have much to do with the other ones. And by the way, wasn't Leatherface dead at the end of Part 2?
