View Full Version : SPIDER-MAN
Spider-Man is about 4 months away and we have all seen the trailor and are all excited to see it(most of us anyway) and I was just wondering how all of you feel about the movie, because I know there are a few concerns about organic webshooters and how the Goblin looks and why they picked Rammi to direct the movie when people think that he doesn't have enough experience to handle this directing chore, etc. I just want to know how you feel and what you would like to see in sequels.
I'm looking forward to the film, I think it will be an excellent piece of pop-corn entertainment.
Raimi has openly stated in a small interview with Empire film magazine that he might have made the wrong choice in going with his chosen design of the Green Goblin, so, if he doesn't have confidence, how are the rest of us meant to feel...
It looks good, not very good.

I'm a little worried it'll be more "teen movie"-like than it looks. I don't know what gave me that impression (maybe it was Kirsten Dunst), but something did. If it takes itself seriously as a movie like X-Men did, it should be awesome.

i fully trust the production with Raimi behind it. It looks like a wild ride, and Sam Raimi is a comical director.

Go rent The Gift.
Sam Raimi did that and it's pretty good.
I personally could care less about the organic web shooter and goblins face looking...a little robotic.
Ever movie changes something. Instead of looking for what's wrong, watch the movie and decide for yourself if you liked it or not...when it comes out.

I'm really looking forward to it. And I don't mind about Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire, I mean, after all, the first Spiderman comics were about a TEENAGER who gets super-powers. So where's the big deal if Dunst and Maguire are young? They stick to their parts.
I'm most definately looking forward to "Spider-Man". My main concern is: how well
JK Simmons can pull off his portrayal as J. Jonah Jameson!!! I know that his character is mostly a supporting role, but in the world
of Spider-Man, Jameson is an important character.

why it could be entertaining:
1.sam(i'll never live down evil dead)raimi
2.based on the most entertaining comic book series ever
3.some scenes were shot in ny
4.fx look servicable
5.green goblin
why it could disappoint:
1.kirsten(i'm not really a sexpot with the body of a 13 yo,i just play one on the big screen)dunst
2.the fx are eerily familiar to spawn, and you know how that turned out
3.no hobgoblin(in my opinion far superior and more complex than green goblin)
4.william(permanent grin)dafoe (was'nt there any else available, the guy is about as intimidating as the dog in the taco bell commercials
5.tobey(i'm not that guy in lord of the rings)maguire see above
6.spiderman lives in an apartment with his grandmother
7.the twin towers have been dropped from the final cut(if you can deal with dafoe's acting,i think you can deal with ghosts from the past and i live in ny,they should have kept it(more pc for you)
8.sounds like another blaring rock soundtrack
i'm definitely looking foward to this film, and i'm anxiously awaiting to see if raimi can top evil dead(which he still has'nt till this day).if the fx in the trailers are any indication of the actual look of the film,i'm very skeptical,i've seen this in spawn.i can guarantee that spiderman will entertain, but i don't see it becoming the stuff of legends like the burton version of batman.it will dazzle and excite for a few hours, make 2000 plus at the box office, but will fade from memory not long after.

Well, the trailer I saw did seem a little more "pop" than I would have liked, but overall, I'm looking forward to it. My big hope is that Raimi got the facts straight and didn't muck around with the important details of the character. The organic webshooters are fine, but don't deviate too far or you'll alienate the fanboys, which is your target audience with this sort of things.
I will agree that Green Goblin was a poor choice for the film's villain. Dr.Octopus would have been better suited for Spidey's big screen premiere, or, better yet, my personal pick the Chameleon, the villain who appeared in the very first issue of the Amazing Spider-Man (yeah, I know, I'm a loser for knowing that, but I don't care). While he's not as high profile as the Goblin, Chameleon actually makes a brilliant antagonist, and seeing him work his evil genius against the young and untried Spider-Man that's depicted in the film would have been lots of fun.
Ah well...cool looking movie anyway...

The movie should be a laugh.
I think it looks good.
With the first trailer it released (which has now been deleted) it looked intense...simply stunning with a hint of epicness, but after the other trailer i can see its not going to be as "cool" as i thought.
The film has a slight "camp" touch to it, which is nothing wrong with that, it's just i didn't expec it to take that direction.
Sit back, turn off the critial analysis button and try to enjoy.
