There's always a mask and a costume in a scary movie, but what are the ones that really can scare us? Make your list. Here goes mine:

1- Scream 1, 2, 3. (Ghostface)
2- IK and ISKWYDLS (Ben Willis)
3- Urban Legend (Mr. Big Coat)
4- Halloween (Michael Myers)
5- UL2: Final Cut (Mr. Fencing Killer)

the scariest killer (to me) didnt even have to wear a mask, jack nicholsons character in the shining was quite scary.

Good call on Smilin' Jack, screamfan.

Scariest is Michael Myers' mask followed by ... the miner's outfit in "My Bloody Valentine!"

Thiago, how can you list the parka in "Urban Legend" as scary? That's got to be the silliest killer get-up ever filmed, IMHO. Yeesh! /ubb/smile.gif

The killer in resurrection had a very freaky costume/mask. Ghostface wasn't scary at all though. Myers takes the cake.

Neither of the costumes in Urban Legend and Urban Legends was scary... Although I thought the fencing mask and stuff in the sequel looked cool, but not scary... I haven't seen VALENTINE yet but on the previews the killers costume looks very scary... But anyway, out of the movies I HAVE seen, Michael Myers mask has to be the scariest... I also think Jasons Hockey mask is scary, I'm probably alone on this one but I think it is anyway...

The mask worn by Michael Myers in the HALLOWEEN series. Also, the clown costumes and makeup in CLOWNHOUSE. And the mime costumes and makeup in WHEN A STRANGER CALLS BACK.

So I'm afraid of William Shatner lookalikes (the original inspiration for Michael Myers's mask), clowns and mimes.

The granny mask in Terror Tract! That's one creepy-ass mask!

I'd also have to say the kkk version of Jason. I don't know, that's just pretty damn creepy when you see a hooded guy flash out of the woods for a brief second!

The Santa mask in Fortress ain't to pleasant!

Definitely Jack Torrence! One of the few human faces that are actually scarier than any mask! (in a movie anyway)

Michael Meyers!

Keanu Reeves in the Watcher! (I'M KIDDING!!!!
Tee Hee!)

But seriously, the ones that would take the prize, if ever put into a movie, would definitely have to be the Bush and Gore masks! Stick those on with a suit and tie, grab a written speech, and there you would have the scariest killer costume ever!

Hi... thanks, AntonioDelLago, for mentioning CLOWNHOUSE. I was the makeup and costume designer for that film. It was super low-budget, so I was <busy>!
