I loved The Cell, and it is my favorite movie. After watching The Silence if the Lambs, I had to ask why people think it's a rip-off of Silence of the Lambs.

THE CELL is also my favorite, well second favorite horror movie. The reason I think it is alike SILENCE OF THE LAMBS is because they are both about trying to save a missing girl that is dying very slowly.

The Cell isn't bad, but it can't hold a candle to The Silence of the Lambs or Seven. Not even close.

EXCUSE ME?
Silence Of The Lambs is WAY superior to Hannibal. Although Hannibal was good, especially Julianne Moore (better than Jodie Foster) she was let down by the film around her. It was good (as in professional, better than the average thriller - as in The Cell). But it was too 'arty', I mean lots of sunsets and landscape shots. Silence of the Lambs was, along ith SE7EN one of the defining thrillers of the 90s.
Hannibal was good, but too long and arty to build the knife-edge suspense of Clarice Starling walking the pitch black basement in Silence of the Lambs. That had me so far off the edge of my seat I was in Manchester. And I live in London. So There.
