I was excited: a horror movie I haven't heard of that takes place in an interesting location with Malcolm Macdowell. I had just been released early from Jury Duty and had a chance to rent a movie that I could watch without my girlfriend. Take a chance on an unknown horror film.
This isn't the one. The movie is about mysterious happenings on an island off of New York City where dead bodies of unidentified people are buried; homeless people, murder victims, etc. A man wants to build housing there. The cover implies that the Dead shouldn't be disturbed. But, the plot summary on IMDB reads, "Stranded on a deserted island, a group of people struggle to survive against a swarm of supernatural flies." The IMDB description, as dumb as it sounds, is still more interesting then the actual movie.
The sad thing is the acting was relatively decent. The characters had some interesting human issues. Unfortunately, the things that made them interesting had little to do with the horror of the movie. And there are many, many silent parts of the movie. I had to fast forward through lots of it.
Avoid at all costs.
