Of all the afore-mentioned actors and actresses, I think that Field would have done the best job as Alice in FRIDAY THE 13TH (although I loved Adrienne King in the role). Too bad the role would probably have killed her career since the movie was poorly received by critics. Shirley MacLaine would have been excellent in THE EXORCIST, although we all love Ellen Burstyn. Ditto Christopher Lee in HALLOWEEN. Although he is one of the greats, no one can fill Donald Pleasence's shoes! Also, the role of Mrs. Bates in PSYCHO was never cast (since it was a publicity stunt concocted by Hitchcock to "throw off" the press concerning the film's final twist). The two casting choices that would have spelled major T-R-O-U-B-L-E were "DiCrapio" in AMERICAN PSYCHO and Streep (a glorified soap actress) in ALIEN. Thank God for misleading first impressions!

Speaking of Mrs. Bates, did you know that Nancy Kelly (who played Rhoda's frantic mother Christine Penmark in THE BAD SEED) provided the voice-over narration by Mrs. Bates in the PSYCHO finale? I always thought that it was Anthony Perkins doing his own vocal impersonation of "Mother"!

Pretty funny, SCREAMER! Sharon Stone would have been interesting as the Gale Weathers character, but I can't see her sharing the spotlight with Neve Campbell (or anyone else, for that matter), nor would she have appeared in the sequels (unless she signed a Jamie Lee H20-type clause in her contract).
