This looks like a great movie, with a really hot leading lady... but doesn't the whole boy meets unpopular girl they spend time secret together then school comes girl wants boy boy says yeah right remind you of grease?
just a question

This movie kind of reminds me of HERE ON EARTH, which I liked. I kind of like teen dramas, they are better than teen romantic comedies. We don't get teen dramas that often so when one comes along I usually want to check it out. A WALK TO REMEMBER looks like it might be kind of corny, just like HERE ON EARTH, but I'll still see it for the hell of it. And Mandy Moore is a cutie.

This movie looks extremely shitty, even if Mandy Moore's in it. It looks totally unoriginal and ridiculous, I swear, Hollywood comes up with shittier ideas for movies every year!

Don't Blame Hollywood! Blame The Author Of The Book That This Movie Is Based On!

We've had an interesting amount of teen dramas lately with "O", The Fast and The Furious, Save The Last Dance, and Crazy/Beautiful if "A Walk To Remember" is anything like those movies then it should be great.
It has an interesting story, Shane West is an alright actor, and the movie itself looks like a very true and sometimes emotional film, I guess I can kind of relate to it in a way therefore I will definetly see it, I can't wait. I think it might pull in some good box-office with teenyboppers and original film fans, it might be what Save The Last Dance was last year: The surprize hit of January. And the fact that Mandy Moore is hot and sexy dosen't hurt either...

Although I don't believe it will be as popular as The Princess Diaries or Save The Last Dance, I do believe that A Walk To Remember will do modest box office. Maybe a $10 million opening and $40 million overall.
And DTM, you really thought that The Fast And The Furious was a TEEN drama??!!?? LOL http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif

Well, in a way it was and in a way it wasn't, I mean it did have more dramatic moments then comedic moments, therefore I guess it could be classified as a Teen Drama. It was actually a Teen Drama for guys and "O", Last Dance, and Crazy/Beautiful was more or less a Teen Drama for girls, even though I enjoyed all three films, I still prefer TF & TF to any of them.. It did kind of classify teen life, with street racing and the whole "I Love your sister" thing. I don't know it could be an Adult Drama for College kids like you and me (idealdiscountdude), but some teenagers called it a movie for their generation. I don't know, it's either or....
I don't think A WALK TO REMEMBER will be that big of a hit, I think it will perform like HERE ON EARTH, BROKEDOWN PALACE, "O", and CRAZY/BEAUTIFUL. Teen Dramas usually don't do very good at the Box Office with the exception of SAVE THE LAST DANCE. But that movie appealed to different races, had a hot soundtrack, and it had dancing, which people like, I know I like dance movies, most anyway. SAVE THE LAST DANCE just had more going for it, now I never thought it would be a huge hit and was shocked as hell when it's opening weekend numbers came in, but it had more of a chance at being a hit than A WALK TO REMEMBER. But I'm just happy Freddie Prinze Jr. isn't in it http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif.
Anyway, 4 Million seems to be a popular opening for these kinds of movies, so I'll say it will open with 6 Million at the most and finish with under 20 Million. But I do plan on seeing it, either in the theater or on video.
I wonder if it will get a lot of bad reviews from critics like HERE ON EARTH did. A WALK TO REMEMBER is based on a book so that might help it's chances a little but I think it will recieve mediocre reviews at best.

See, I personally thought that The Fast And The Furious is just a mindless action movie! I liked it but a preschooler could have seriously came up with the concept! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif

I agree, the movie looks like it has a really positive message to it, that will be a strong draw for families and teens alike. I think Mandy Moore will have a chance to succeed as a musician-turned-actress, where others like Mariah Carey have failed. What do you guys think?

NOTE: Not kissing up to new moderator!
But, I am looking forward to this movie too. I enjoy teen movies and there are not many with a good story line behind it. This movie I will see at the movie house.
ok yeah I agree with you because some teen movies are so incredibly absolutely pointless and stupid but this looks like a dawson's creek movie don't you think?

While A WALK TO REMEMBER may not perform at the level of a big hit like SAVE THE LAST DANCE, I don't think success is out of the question. This is a movie with a good message aimed at teens, and I think parents will be more than happy to send their kids to it, or even go along. The expectations shouldn't be unreal, but it is a well-chosen role on Mandy Moore's part, and gives her a chance to build on a movie career where other musicians have had to give up their attempts at the big screen following movies that tanked hard.

"O" was a great film and I wish more people would have seen it. But A Walk To Remeber just looks bad. I don't like Mandy Moore and Shane West has been in a lot of bad teen comedies. Why not make a teen romance movie starring two of the ugliest people in Hollywood and see if people go see it. I would like to see that. Don't put someone as talentless as Moore as the lead in a film that is aimed at teens but is rated PG. Cause everyone knows teens love movies with no sex or violence.

There is something to be said for movies with a good message. Why should movies only bombard kids with nonstop sex and violence, instead of trying to reinforce better morals? It's true that Mandy Moore has no experience, but she's definitely got a strong drawing power with teen girls, and so does Shane West, despite his showing in horrid movies like Dracula 2000. This movie could surprise you, you never know

Well, I don't think I'll be seeing this film. I mean, I don't have anything against Mandy Moore. I think she's a nice girl, an alright singer, and it looks like she can delivered some decent acting. And she's also one damn hot chick. But anyway, I just don't really like those teen romantic dramas.

I think this movie looks very shitty. And yea, it does look like another corny teen romance a la Here on Earth, which was the film that made me hate Leelee Sobieski for her terrible acting ability. UGH!
Mandy Moore plays an ugly duckling, who is nowhere near lookin ugly. And a teen romance evolves with an ugly actor. BLAH!
I'll pass on ever seeing this movie. It looks like shit.

Yeah, its true that mandy moore playing the ugly duckling is a stretch, but the movie still looks like it could be pretty decent. At worst, it would be a good date movie.
