What do most of you boys and gouls consider to be a good horror movie? Do you consider a really cheap low budget horror movie with loads of blood and boobs the best kind of a horror movie? Or a teen horror movie? Or maybe a drama thriller like PSYCHO?

I personally think what makes a good horror movie is good acting and incredible drama with a touch of murder, like PSYCHO or CARRIE (which had a little more than a touch of murder but the acting was incredible), but I also like the cheap bloody movies like TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. (TCM really scared the shit out of me and it's easy to see why it's become a cult classic). But still no other horror movie can hold a candle to great works like PSYCHO. Just my two cents.

Let me know what you think, please.

Hey, hey, hey, TCM is by no means a cheap bloody movie. What made it so powerful was that the violence was suggested and there wasn't much blood on screen. When the violence is suggested you picture it how you want it, and you in TCM, you usually picture a bloody mess, even though the film is not.

I personally am not to fond of GORE films. I don't mind a little gore or even alot of gore in a good horror flick, but a film with tons of GORE, and no story sucks.

Teen horror flicks are more towards comedy than horror (mostly the new ones, which I don't even consider horror), so I don't like them.

I like suspenseful movies. One's were you care for the characters, and hope they survive, or beat the moster.

i like horror that works on two levels like freddy could be real and be scary or the memory of fred krueger child molester coming back to haunt- really the same thing and both scary
Like Bob from twin peaks could be scary demon could be just her father molesting her both scary

not stated well but i'm tired and you get my driftwood

I think horror should be about suspense, like in Halloween and, more recently, Stephen King's awesome mini-series Storm Of The Century(only lacked a good ending). Well, that's what I think at least.

I think a good horror flick needs suspense, cheap scares (I love them), blood, and a good story...
