I'm having a hard time trying to figure out why a lot of people dislike Hellraiser: Inferno. Many complain that the film didn't feature enough of Pinhead. Isn't this a reasonably good thing? I think Inferno saved the Hellraiser series from going the same route that NOES did. Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth was basically a slasher and Pinhead was looking more and more like Mr. Krueger. The fourth installment, Hellraiser: Bloodline, was a little better, but lacked the intensity of the first two entries much like it's predecessor. Although Inferno didn't have much to do with the previous films, at least the main villain didn't become a wisecracking, stand-up comedian. Don't get me wrong, I can easily enjoy some of the Elm Street sequels, but I just can't understand why some people bitch about Inferno. Could someone please explain it to me?

I liked Inferno, but its hard to call it a hellraiser film. Its a crime/drama movie, with some Cenobites and Pinhead added in for effect (and to make an excuse for using the Hellraiser name). It just doesn't feel like Hellraiser. But it was enjoyable.

Inferno isn't a Hellraiser at all. It was falsely advertised as a Hellraiser flick.

I enjoyed the fifth installment, although it wasn't tough to beat Bloodline. The scenes set in the past and the making of the configuration was great, to bad they added that crappy future with trapping pinhead on a spaceship. Anyway back to Inferno the problem I had was I didn't care if the lead character went to hell or not for framing his partner, cheating on his wife, ignoring his parents. I didn't feel for the guy. Thank goodness Pinhead wasn't spitting out one liners. Part Six should be an improvement.

I found Hellraiser: Inferno a big improvment for the series. You see, if you forgot, Hellraiser was about pain and torture. In Hellraiser: Inferno, we get something with pain and torture (the detective seeing people he loved get murdered, having those horrible dreams, seeing his spirit get killed, and then descending into hell, Hellraiser style with the hooks). A lot of people say this one is a lot like a Christmas Carol but I disagree, did he get the chance to fix his wrongings or stop the deaths, NO! This one just felt a lot like Hellraiser except it didn't have as much talk of the box or the myths and whatnot. As for Pinhead, I liked it better like this. As you remember, Pinhead was only in the original for like 5 or 6 minutes total. Not much different here people. Besides, Pinhead doesn't make Hellraiser, it's the torture, the hell's represented. I'm glad this one detoured from parts 3 and 4. It went back to the roots for the most part (note: most). I dug it, plus Pinhead wasn't a bore with gore on his mind, that and one-liners with extreme dialogue. The only thing I feel is deceptive about the film is the cover art and the title. I think it probably called "Hellraiser: A Human Puzzle" or "Hellraiser: Sins of the Flesh" or something along those line that would fit describing what the movie is about better. Anyway, out of 4 stars, I give 3.5, and that's all there is to it for me.

Note: that last post is my opinion on Hellraiser: Inferno.
