This is a bit of a private saying that me+my pals use to mean "a film that everyone has heard of but no-one has seen". Okay I'm sure this isn't a universally applicable saying especially in a forum of horror-fans so I'm asking if anyone has ever actually spent half an hour scanning the shelves of the local video store (as I often do) and found the selection so utterly uninspiring that they actually picked up XTRO (again, as I often do) looked at the screen captures on the back with the crappy clownface man and werewolf face and actually rented it. I've been on the brink so many times but have always found something else at the last minute or just think 'no not today'. I'm tempted because the front cover looks good but the back always puts me off.
I'd be putting one of my oldest and dearest sayings to bed if I was to finally see it so part of me wants to stay ignorant. What should I do?
It would also be interesting to know if anyone else has any similar dilemmas.

Xtro is supposed to be a cheap Alien rip-off, but I haven't seen it. I do own the sequel, however, and it's definitely an Alien rip-off. Actually, it's not that bad. From what I understand, the third Xtro isn't really related to the first couple of films. It too is pretty decent.
