PSYCHO then THE SHINING then THE BIRDS then HALLOWEEN. So I guess HALLOWEEN ranks/rates fourth.

Yeah, "others" is a good movie. /ubb/biggrin.gif
Aaaaaaanyway, for me it has to be Nightmare on Elm Street. Not really scary, but the whole Freddy phenomenon created by this movie really made me a huge fan of every Nightmare movie since it, and horror movies in general. Not necessarily the best horror movie, just the most important for me.

The best horror film in by opinion is Halloween because it was revolutionary to the genre.

"Silence of the Lambs" is one of the best horror films ever. "The Exorcist" is no slouch, either. /ubb/smile.gif

Damn, I always forget to include THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (which I usually consider a psychothriller). Also, in a word: ALIEN.

You guys are also forgetting the original creature features. Godzilla: King of the Monsters and King Kong.

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, WES CRAVEN'S NEW NIGHTMARE, THE EXORCIST, REQUIEM FOR A DREAM, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, HALLOWEEN, TCM, DIABOLIQUE, NOSFERATU (1922), THE HITCHER, THE CHANGELING, PET SEMATARY, POLTERGEIST, THE EVIL DEAD, THE EVIL DEAD 2, CARRIE, IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS, RE ANIMATOR, THE OMEN, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, and MISERY are all great movies, and my favorites.
There are so many good horror films in the genre, and it's too hard to pick one. Each movie has there own strengths, and weaknessess. You can choose your favorite (ANMOES), but best? I certainly can't choose best.

JEN DAN, at the risk of being accused of "playing favorites" again, I agree with every film on your list (with the exception of VALENTINE, of course!).

LOL, I know you hate Valentine, Antonio. Just about everyone I know, hates it, but I'm a sucker for Denise Richards and the ending is pretty cool. It's very standard, other than that.

Actually JEN, I think everyone is divided into love/hate camps where VALENTINE is concerned. You're not alone.
