Now alot people say that this movie is sick and brutil. But after watching it again it didn't find it that violent. Nore sexual. It had quite an amount of nudity it it but I wouldint call it shocking. Same with the gore. But I still love the movie.

A Clockwork Orange is a very weird movie but it's also in my top 10.Kurbrick does a wonderful job with this movie that's why I give it a 8/10.You can't say that it wasn't violent cause a couple woman get raped. It's still a vey good film.

Well the reason it upset a lot of people was because of the way the material was presented; the way it fucks with your mind and all. It wasn't explictly violent, but it left me numb afterwards.

A classic. Kubrick ruled! Definitely contained horror elements.
And you have to understand...in 1971, when this film premiered, times were different and it was definitely considered shocking, perverse, etc.
Kube was way ahead of his time!

Your right Antonio,in 1971 people weren't use to a film with a ton of violent scenes. Now in the present time as we watch it,we don't think it's so bad cause we're used to tons of violence!

Like I said, it isn't actually the violence itself, it's the psychological impact on the viewer.
When I first saw it, I had already seen other violent movies, but ACO still disturbed me much more than "The Long Kiss Goodnight" or "Die Hard."

Get your heads out of your asses! ACO is a crappy flick. I admit the beginning is entertaining but the second half is boring and stupid. I hate when people say 'it's totally whacked out, dude...i love it'. Gimme a break. Without a doubt, Kubrick is overrated. He drags his films on and incorporates cheesy symbolic meanings. ACO is something high school losers talk about. Admit that this flick is solid grade A waste.

I'm with Antonio on this one. Clockwork is still disturbing and weird today though. Kube was a genius and definetly ahead of his time. RIP.

Another thing, take Psycho for instance. In 1969 people ahd never seen anything like it. When the shower scene came on the screen it was shocking to people. Now it just seems dull because horror is loaded the violence. But Psycho is a classic. Clockwork Orange is one great movie.

Like I was going to say, it came out in 1972 and was much more controversial then. It is still one of the most disturbing films because rape and ultraviolence is supposed to have an effect on people. I forgot to mention that I watched this movie a few hours ago, and it is definately one of the most amazing, original movies of all time.
Also, Psycho came out 1960, but you're absolutely right with how shocking people found it to be back then. I've talked to my mom about A Clockwork Orange and she didn't really enjoy this movie. She said "I thought it was too violent and disturbing, and could not feel for the main character, because he was not a hero, but an anti-hero". She also told me that back then there were only a few movies where the main character was not a hero. Thats how it was 30 years ago when she was only 16 years old.
