View Full Version : Jack Frost 2 DVD Review

I asked about this DVD awhile back and I just bought it.
I have to say that this is one of the funniest cheese fests I have ever seen.
Video Transfer
The transfer is fantastic for what it is. It was shot with what looks like a hand cam but it's in wide screen. Other than the cheep quality of the film, the transfer is perfect.
I'm very pleased.
Audio Transfer
Like the Video, it's great for what it is.
Extras
Useless but very fun. Director's commentary, funny music video, cute behind-the-scenes footage, some other stuff.
Now for a quick review,
A really humourous film that is so horribly bad that is hilarious. There's a pile of cheap gore, a very gratuitous nude scene, very bad dialogue, and there's even a telepathic link with Jack Frost.
This is great for a group get-together and it's guaranteed to make everyone laugh.
All in all, I give this movie as 8/10 for making me laugh and providing some all out gory moments.
Note:The DVD is uncut but the VHS is butchered (supposedly, I asked around and that seems to be the case)

Grade: 1/10
Note: I originally gave JF2 a 2/10 but I viewed it again at a friend's house and it got worse!!!

I really try to stay away from bad flicks (I've only seen really like 5 (exaggeration!) movies I didn't like because of this strategy!), and this is one film on my "STAY AWAY LIST," along with Leprechaun in Space, Uncle Sam, and a shitload of others!)

I suppose it would have been slightly less painful to watch it uncut, but that's a long shot. Jack Frost 2 is one of the worst horror flicks I have ever seen.
Requiem-Could you describe the nude scene for me? I'm just curious. I won't be buying a DVD player anytime soon.

Well, a women goes outside to swim and disrobes completely. A very long nude scene in the pool insues.
Most people will hate this movie for how ridiculous it is, the funny thing is, that's the exact reason I love it. My favourite films are all very serious films (Requiem for a Dream, Memento,Platoon, Jacob's Ladder, Ghandi, and other fantastically powerful films) with all these deeply moving films( and some very depressing), sometimes I just want something to the total opposite. Anyways, I'm not saying this movie is good, it's rather the opposite, I'm just saying it's so much fun to watch, it takes my mind off of the horrors of our world. I'm sorry that no one feels the same about this flick but that's cool, just wanted to share my thoughts.

I thought I was like the only person to buy Jack Frost 2. Its nice to see they actually put the nude scene in the dvd (I have the vhs and it was taken out). People will either love or hate this film (the majority most likely being in the hate section) but I found it so ridiculously laughable that I couldn't help liking it. Not the best trash I have seen but nowhere near the worst. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Did someone say ridiculous? I love that word in describing a movie. I liked the original Jack Frost (3.5/5) and the scequel actually seems like it will be fun.

Time to give this a BUMPITY BUMP BUMP since I finally just saw it.
And I gotta admit, though I love the original, I wasn't too thrilled with the sequel.
If the original was "tongue-in-cheek", then Jack Frost 2 is more "foot-in-mouth". Everything is more cartoonishly exaggerated. The characters are flatter than in the original, the cheesy sets looked like something out of "Married With Children", the humor was far more lowbrow and the ending didn't satisfy me at all. There were a few laugh-out-loud moments (LOVED the anvil scene), but not enough to justify stealing 80 minutes of my life.
3/10 (compared to 6/10 for the original)

I loved the original Jack Frost, and from what you say number 2 sounds good. The only problem was i got the vhs and it was CRAP! No gore, and it was to stupid to be funny in my opinion.

The pool scene is the only part that I have seen as it is an easter egg on the Boogymen DVD. The rest of the movie looked like fun but I doubt I go out of my way to see it.

Weee I own Jack Frost 2 on DVD. One of my favorite cheesy horror flicks. Its just so stupid. I think the first one was actually boring and dragged between kills. The second one is overly gorey and all the characters were hilarious. Great cheesfest.
meh already posted in here too! wow
Jack Frost 1 - 5/10
Jack Frost 2 - 7/10

I'm one for bad movies, but the Jack Frost movies just seemed to rub me the wrong way. I could get laughs from the cheesy effects for so long before I hated the movie. They tried, but it seems like they were trying to hard for me.
anyway I give the movies this
Jack Frost - 2/10
Jack Frost 2 - 1/10 (because it just seemed less to me)
Great bad cheese flick. Horrible acting and a terrible title (Jack Frost 2: Revenge Of The Mutant Killer Snowmen, terrible.) But I enjoyed it for a night when I rented it. So for that, 5/10.

The first one made me want to slit my wrists, but for some reason I got some fun out of the second one. 'Did the grump monster steal your happy dust?"!! You can't get better than that.
Oh, and I saw the VHS from Hollywood video, it is cut because there was no nude scene in the cut I saw, and not a lot of gore at all. I'm thinking about actually buying the DVD now.
Although I do have the boogeymen DVD, can anyone tell me how to get to that Easter Egg?

I enjoyed finding that scene as well, I stubled across it by accident. I love Easter Eggs.
