WOLF LAKE (2001) Horror-themed drama serial concerning a Seattle detective (Lou Diamond Phillips) searching for his missing girlfriend (Mia Kirshner) in the title town, which serves as a haven for werewolves. Tim Matheson co-stars as the town’s shady sheriff, and the pretty decent supporting cast includes: Mary Elizabeth Winestead as Matheson’s heroic daughter; Paul Wasilewski as Winstead’s shape-shifting would-be paramour; Graham Greene as a wise high school teacher; Scott Bairstow as the local bad boy drug dealer; and Bruce McGill and Sharon Lawrence as Kirshner’s wealthy parents. Moody, atmospheric, fast-paced CBS series, punctuated by an ominous score and awesome soundtrack. Kirshner, a major babe, lights up the screen as she did in the indie thrillers "Exotica" and "Love and Human Remains". The pilot episode was directed with mucho style by Brian Spicer. My grade: B
