I watched this movie last Night in rather stoned mode and then again, two hours ago. I've heard so many good things about this one, a friend of mine even had the guts to say that it's the best 90's teen slasher, after SCREAM of course. Having watched it now twice, I gotta disagree :

SPOILER ALERT!

How to Hell gets the Killer to choose his Victims? How does he know who's a Virgin and who not? If you wanted to deflorate your Girlfriend and you know her Parents are strictly against it, would you try it 2 meters from their house? When they are at home? When you have a car? Come on!
Jody doesn't reckognize the Killer when he/she's chasing her through the empty high school ( and WOW...that's one big and long highschool floor), even when he/she's standing right before her? How can that be?
I know he has that goofy hairpiece that makes him look like Joey Ramone but fuck ya, this is just impossible to ALWAYS hide his face, since he's gotta see something as well.
-I hated the fucking soap-oparistic moments of what the filmmakers thought of being "typical teen dialogue". What's up with Jody first turning down on Danny and then...Then he turns her down??? Where's their fucking problem? Scenes like that made me want to throw something on the Screen.
-This movie has way too many "nods" to other movies for my liking. Just to name a few : "Evil Dead" ( when the Sherrif walks down the stairs into the cellar, very similar), "NOES" ( a LOT of fuckin' nods, the most appearent being the confession of Jody's Mother about the Past beings ), or "Psycho" the weird, "I'll dress up like my mother tha make ya all Bastards paaaaayyy"-motivation. The Characters weren't that involing either. Who is Marc again? What's up with the guy who thinks this is all "somehow cool"? WTF??? I don't get it. I also don't get why the Students run away from the Killer at the Orgy since he's only armed with a Knife and there are like Hundreds of them. Should be a pretty easy match. Instead they rather kill themselves in mass-panic. Whatever...

But there were some things about the movie that I liked as well:
The Scene of the Sherrif investigating the old House in West Virginia...brrrrr! I loved the payoff of this scene, even though it leads the movie nowhere but it's one hell of a creepy scene. The scene where the Cops describe to the Sherrif how the first murder happened. Nailed Alive....brrr! The Teens at the school were fun, their battlecry before the Orgy had me howling. The Slut's monologue was GREAT! And some of the Dialogue kicked ass too : "What's in that crate?" - "Your Father! Or..... Mine, whatever...".

All in All, I expected way more. Maybe it's better that I haven't seen Urban Legends 2. How would I bitch about a movie of THAT quality if I can't even appreciate a movie like Cherry Falls? What did you think of it?
4/10

I was also very dissapointed. After reading all of the wonderful reviews on these boards about Cherry Falls, I was expecting the second coming of Halloween.

I was also disappointed with "Cherry Falls." The characters were obnoxious and the killings, as well as the identity of the killer, were very predictable. It seemed like a stale rehashing of other, better slasher films. Hopefully there won't be a "Cherry Falls 2."

Cherry Falls was hacked to pieces in the editing room, leaving it very choppy and incohesive. The only thing I like about it is the title.

I expected a good slasher flick when I first saw it and I think I got one. The whole thing struck me as a Wes Craven homage. We had rape (last house on the left), a Scream-esque chase scene, and a mother who reveals a deep dark secret (Elm Street). Not the most original thing, but one of the most enjoyable (wel I enjoyed it.)

Cherry Falls was totally lame and i am glad i am not the only one who thought this. I was excited from the get go on this one and I even dubbed it once it debuted on USA. I had high hopes cause of the hype and it had Jay Mohr in it. I like that guy but not even him could save this. There was nothing special about this movie, no scares, no gore, and no suspense leading to the kills. Worse yet was the terrible lead actress, she was ugly in my oppinion and couldn't even act that good. I give this a 3/10

I thought the premise was pretty clever, and there were a few good scenes, but I felt it could`ve been MUCH better.

This movies kicks ass!!!!! It is the best slasher in years and the best horror flick of 2000. Better than scream, I would say. I loved it. 4/4

I thought it was going to be good, with all these great reviews, but it sucked. True, Brittany Murphy was a good choice for the lead, but the rest of the cast was boring. If they'd made it gorier, I know it would've been better.

One of the WORST scary movies I've ever seen. Do I need to say more? Well, yes. IT SUCKS! AND WHAT ENDING IS THAT?????? IT WAS SOOOOO RIDICULOUS! I was actually hoping to see a good slasher, because some of you were saying it was good, but I have to agree with Dehydrator, janesworld, FrightFilmFan, countchocula and many others: This movie is very disappointing.

I haven't seen this movie, and I don't intend to. I read the screenplay on the internet, and it seems to me that the writer thinks the idea is SOO clever of the fact that virgins die and sluts live. This is just a rip-off of Scream (which I also didn't like, unlike everyone else in the world) except the opposite. What does it have to do with the plot anyway? and it also gets ruined at the end when all the students have sex but he kills them anyway. ??? If you're gonna put in a theory for the killer, ya better stick with it! Also, the dialogue, even though critics and everyone else think it's SO good and SO realistic, isn't all that good at all. It's just dialogue, and it's not even that clever. I also didn't dig the "surprise" scare at the end, that so obviously makes an opening for a possible sequel...? I hate when every movie does that.

The screenplay gets 1/2 out of ***** from me.

I just liked the part where the killer killed the couple in the car. Cause when they showed him in his car tapping that knife against it,it looked like it had some promise. The part where he knocks on the door of that girl also kicked ass. The ending, the whole orgy thing was kinda wild. Most of the movie however was lame, but you gotta admit it was ballsy and it wasn't a rip off,it was very "original." For that, you gotta respect it.

Yeah I thought it was a little different from the typical, predictable slasher films. I really enjoyed it too.

A good, different slasher film. It was entertaining. It did remind me of the original Elm Street with the whole Mother explaining the past thing. But it was one scary ride. I love it, and hope to buy it on video or DVD. Brittany Murphy was great and not ugly. Her performance was utterly realistic. I look forward to a Cherry Falls 2.
