The old version, not the Craven one.

A bit dated and I had the ending figured out after the first scene was over, but it was moody, creepy, and even jolted me at certain points. The guy who played the phantom was one freaky mofo. Struck me as a cross between the Cemetery Zombie in NOTLD and the Tall Man. The director of COS made such a kool movie....too bad it's ending was painfully obvious. Even if it hadn't been ripped off countless times, I still would've figured it out. Something a bit more novel would've been better.

Overall, I liked it a lot and George Romero even cited it as a huge influence on Night of the Living Dead. How's the remake? Heard it was terrible, but that's what's said about all DTV movies.

Carnival of Souls-*** out of ****

Pretty disapointed in this one but it wasn't bad for the time and had great atmosphere. The remake stunk by the way, very boring.

Yes, it's very much like the first Night of the Living Dead in it's style. Something that pissed me off, though, was that they should have had the creepy people show up like normal people. Instead, they have their faces in the windows of moving cars, upper story windows, etc...if they were all like the scenes where the creepy guy was at the bottom of the stairs or on the street it would be much better. Then the viewer would have to figure out if they are real or a figment of her imagination.

When she got on the bus it was pretty spooky, and the whole idea with the carnival is cool too. They could re-make this into a decent movie.
