In my opinion Titus and Macbeath are slashers. Titus with Anthony Hopkins has tons of extreame violence, and a devasting rape scene and Macbeath has nonstop sprouts of violence. The Board's plays have to do alot with rape also. But Titus is a splatter film. It remindes me of Caligula.

The Board? You mean the Bard, right?

I don't think the mere presence of violence makes something a slasher. To call Macbeth or Titus slashers for it is ridiculous.

ridiculous?? i don't think so. Are slashers tradgedies??, is it possible a tradgedy can be considered a slasher?.... can i even spell tradgedy, probably not, but i think i got my point across.

While the points raised are interesting indeed, I still wouldn't classify either as a slasher.

While we're on the subject of Bill Waggledagger slashers a mention should be made to the masterpiece "Theatre of Blood" in which the killer despatches his victims with methods inspired by his stage plays. Includes some of the goriest and sickest deaths and set-pieces imaginable. And Vinnie Price is always great.

Macbeth a slasher? Just because there's a lotta blood and a stabbing here and there does not make it a slasher IMO. But it raises a question that constantly seems to elude us here on the Slasher board: What is the definition of a slasher? I'm posting this as a seperate topic...
