I do have 3 Argento films. Phenomena,Inferno, and Deep Red. Deep Red is great,Phenomena is okay, and Inferno isn't that great, but I didn't really pay attention to the movie.

I've not seen Deep Red. How is the gore in this film.

Deep Red is really gory if you've seen tenebre it's about the same and the acting is very good especially for a horror/suspense movie.

he has never made a bad film, even his worst (phantom of the Opera and Truama) area t least OK, but his finest work, excluding Suspiria, is:

Deep Red
tenebrae
Phenomena
opera
Stendhal Syndrome
Infreno
cat O'Nine Tails

My favorite Argento flick is Inferno. I loved it! The only one of his flicks that actually scared me (althought I loved them all).

Just rewatched the new DVD of Bird with the Crystal Plumage, and while the story isn't the best, and there is no gore to speak of, Argeno did some terrific suspense sequences here, and the performances are very good....besides, it's always good to see Reggie Nalder as an assassin isnt' it?

I don't think he's ever topped Suspiria but Opera came damn close and I'd recommend that one. Haven't seen Deep Red yet but I've heard it's good. Of the ones I've seen the only one I utterly hated was Stendhal Syndrome. Bored the shit outta me.
MINOR SPOILER:
The girl was cured of her phobia and ability to enter paintings half way through the film. That was stupid since the film is called the Stendhal Syndrome so it should really be about that and not some boring virtually motiveless killer, no? WTF!

I'm with MALARIA on that one, Stendal Syndrome sucks ass. 3/10. I never once bought Kretschmann as the Psycho and his Lines are atrocious. And check out the Shrink who tries to convince Asia that it's a perfect normal thing to get raped, tortured and affected by that fucking syndrome all at the same day. "Now don't just call this crazy...". Remember Asias Boyfriend who's got nothing better to do than asking her for sex when she just gets home from getting raped ( and he knows )? Nada, Stendal Syndrome blows.

Deep Red- Fantastic! Brutally beautiful with a brilliant ending. A+

Phenomena- Very cool flick, some outstanding gore. B+

both Demons and Demons 2 are very creepy. Demons is a gorefest! 1. A 2. B

Tenebrae- Suspensful and original. The "arm" scene is worth the price of the movie alone. A

Inferno- Nice semi-sequel to Susperia has some very creepy atmosphere and very creative deaths. B

Phantom Of The Opera- This may turn some heads but I really like this film. I don't really see it as an Argento film. Amazing gore, Asia Argento looks great, good direction and faithful to the story. But I do understand why people don't like this film, it doesn't really feel like Argento is behind the camera and it doesn't feel as though he put his whole ass into this film. B+

And for people who haven't seen Susperia, it's a fantastic film, my fav Argento flick with Deep Red a close second. A+

Demons 1 and 2 were actually directed by Lamberto Bava, Argetno was a writter/producer.

Another one to check out is The Wax Mask, he wrote that with Fulci. Sergio Stivaletti directed it.

I've enjoyed and would recommend every Argento film I've seen except Phantom of the Opera. Deep Red is definitely one of the best, as well as Bird with the Crystal Plumage & Inferno

Has anyone ever seen Four Flys on Grey Velvet? I've heard that's good but haven't been able to rent it anywhere...
