i thought this movie had a great original concept. i just thought a lot of the acting was overdone and maybe focused more on the laywers downward spiral. plus i would have limited the screen time for the gypsy's grand-daughter.
did you think this had a shot at being a great movie?
what were some changes that you would of made?

I agree about the acting. It was an O.K movie, not great not bad but good.

Thinner is definitely above average. As already pointed out, the acting is a bit off, but I don't think it damages the film too severely.

I didn't like this movie at all and remember falling asleep during it. This has been a recent trend for Stephen King adaptions lately. The movies just don't measure up. I have seen dramas more exciting than this movie. Just my oppinion though.

I would say Thinner and Needful Things are the worst Stephen King movie.Thinner was boring but there was a couple of scenes that were funny. But overall I didn't care to much about it.
I didn't think THINNER was all that great... What did everyone think of the ending? I thought it was kind of gross, thinking about what's going to happen. It was kind of neat but totally twisted. I'm not sure if I liked the ending or I didn't...

The ending was some what of a ciff hanger. It ended with the strawberry pie.It was kind of weird that he fed it to the doctor but I really wanted to see what happened.
It's been awhile since I've seen it so correct me if I'm wrong but didn't his daughter eat it too? If I remember right, that's what I thought was so twisted!!!

I think your right. It been a while sice I've seen it but I think it was the wife, not the daughter or both? I don't remember.

What I can remember is that the wife eats the pie. The next day she's dead. When the guy goes downstairs, he... well, I can't remember, but I think that it's that his daughter leaves a note saying she ate a piece of the pie, or the daughter saying to him that he ate a piece and then she leaves. Then that other guy comes, and...
The Heart Collector, you are on the right track. Yeah, his wife ate it and then I think I remember a note from his daughter saying she had a piece too. And then that one guy shows up. I think that's right...

********************SPOILER******************
he wakes up next to his gory, rotting wife smiling. He goes downstairs and sees two plates in the sink. His daughter comes in from playing and says something like "oh, by the way, thanks dad, the pie was delicious"
Then the guy his wife was fucking comes in and the husband offers the guy a piece of cake. That's the ending.
Hope the clears everything up

I thought Thinner was an entertaining, if lightweight film based on an entertaining, if lightweight novel. (And I mean this in a good way!)
The Prowler got it right though about King's movies - they just don't seem to translate very well to the big (or small) screen. Funnily enough, the one's that DO transalte well tend to be the less horrific ones (e.g. Shawshank, Stand By Me, Apt Pupil, Green Mile)

I agree that Thinner isn't very good but worse Stephen King Adaptation? Worse than the Mangler? Worse than Graveyard Shift? I don't think so.

I've read the book; pretty much a middle-of-the-road SK.

Considering that there weren't too many killings this turned out to be a pretty good horror film. The makeup of the lawyer was good as going from obese to super anorexic. When he was super anorexic it looked pretty realistic to me. It churned my stomach to see him super anorexic. This film was mostly a drama though, and the dialogue was a little better than your average horror flick. I wouldn't mind seeing it again. Stefan's out.

I love THINNER, even though I'm aware that it kinda sucked. It's kinda like PET SEMETARY 2... It sucks, but entertaining, and you always end up watching it when it's on the tube.
I dunno, Thinner is nowhere near the book in my op, which was okay, but the ending was fairly true, which I was surprised to see cuz I was sure they'd cop out. But anyway, Thinner was just sorta...eh...

If this was the movie I think it was. Then, THINNER showed human selfishness, conceit, and lack of any measure of love to a greater extent than horror. I remember thinking that not one character cares to any degree for another character in this film. This startled me more than the act of physically wasting away.
