I haven't seen any of them. Are they worth a look? I've heard they are pretty good.

The first was pretty decent, but don't bother with the sequels unless you really need to.

The first HELLRAISER and the first sequel, HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER II are both really cool and are like one long story. However, ALL the rest of the sequels are pretty crappy. They do not have the same mood and atmosphere of the first two.

I disagree. I really liked every Hellraiser movie except the 4th one (Bloodline). Everyone seems to hate the third one, but I liked it. I thought it was interesting. The fifth one is absolutely great, too, I don't know what people don't like about it. Maybe it's the fact that Pinhead's only in it for a few minutes.

The first "Hellraiser" is definitely worth seeing. The sequels are decent, but don't add anything to the first and, in my opinion, go off in a competely different direction than I think Clive Barker had intended with the mythology. In fact, although "Hr: Inferno" gets a lot of grief from fans, I think it's closer to what the sequels should have been like.

This is one of my favorite horror film series. I am impressed with all the themes the first one explores, more then your average series. The second is a great continuation of the first which explores the agendas of others and what they will do to achieve it. The third and fourth are standard sequels, but are a great way to spend an hour and a half around 12:30 or 1 in the morning. The fifth is one where either you love it or hate it. I really liked it and am eager for the sixth installment.
Hellraiser A
Hellbound:Hellraiser II B+
Hellraiser 3 Hell on Earth B-
Hellraiser Bloodlines C+
Hellraiser Inferno B+

I am a great fan of the intire hellraiser series.
Though the best way to view them is to view them as there own movies and not sequels.
If you view them all as a continuation of the other your just ganna get pissed off and anoyed because they dont really fallow each other really well.
The only one I didnt really enjoy was the 3rd one.

Now that I've just ordered the "Hellraiser" DVD from amazon.com, and it's that time of year again, why don't we restart this topic?
For the uninitiated, the films are:
HELLRAISER (1987) D: Clive Barker
HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER II (1988) D: Tony Randel
HELLRAISER III: HELL ON EARTH (1992) D: Anthony Hickox
HELLRAISER: BLOODLINE (1996) D: "Alan Smithee" (really Keven Yagher and Joe Chappelle)
HELLRAISER: INFERNO (2000) D: Scott Derrickson
HELLRAISER: HELLSEEKER (2002, forthcoming) D: Rick Bota

Seen the first four. Parts I and II were gore epics. Part III was cheeeesey, i liked the nightclub massacre though (cenobites in that one sucked). Part IV headed back in the right direction, better cenobites, good story, good ending. Haven't seen inferno though.

The first 2 are go together, the third DOES tie in (trust me, it continues after 2, at one point telling "What the hell happened" but, yes, it is more action-packed than the first 2, but not as gory or as good, although I did enjoy the "Jesus Christ!" "Not Quite" line.... Pinhead is the only good Cenobite this time around....
Part 4 was OK, not as good as 3, I thought Pinhead's make-up was worse in this one as well...
Part 5 really doesn't follow anything, but I love the storyline, even if it only has Pinhead for like 5 minutes....
Shouldn't have really been a Hellraiser flick..

1 and 2 are both very worth seeing. Particularly for the atmosphere. The entire thing has a sense of hell and blood creeping like the sound of rats through the old house. As the house in which most of the action takes place in in Hellraiser I is mysterious and odd, you are almost not surprised Cenobytes are popping up in the dark and dreary corners. Clive Barker's imagery is also fabulous, full of old attics, skinless men, and creatures of torture, with nailed boards. The plot is a bit incoherent, but both I & II are worth it both for the conceptual craft and the imagery. Both ugly and beautiful movies. And then, of course, there are the devilishly seductive cenobytes (Pinhead, Butterball etc.), who lure like omens into the world of pain and torture....
