I'm looking for some opinions on this film. I'm considering buying a DVD with all the extras but it looks like this will run $30+. Is it worth buying. Give me some opinions.

Believe me, it is. Cannibal (or "Make Them Die Slowly", as it was retitled), is some seriously fucked up shit. If you've got a weak stomach, stay away.

Well, I am expecting the Cannibal Holocaust DVD in the mail today. I've heard these two movies have some similarities so I'm gonna watch it before deciding to buy Ferox. Are the movies similiar? Further opinions would be appreciated.

I think CANNIBAL FEROX certainly profited on the cult-status of CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST. Sorta SCREAM / I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER type of stuff. IMO, Cannibal Holocaust is worth seeing but I wouldn't pay that much for it. It's been overrated beyond belief and it makes me fuckin' mad that the fans of this film accuse Blair Witch for ripping it off. I mean, hello, yes, that documentary stuff is there but it's done in a completely differnet ( and sometimes just silly ) way. Hmmm, you know what? I think that PRETTY WOMAN ripped off EXORCIST! BOTH HAVE A SCENE IN THE BEDROOM I'M TELLING YA, THEY RIPPED IT OFF!

CH is mostely worth seeing on a disturbance-factor, it will definitely make you feel like shit. But I wouldn't rate it any higher than 5/10. It's by far the best of the late 70's italian Cannibal movies I've seen. The acting is half as atrocious as in most of the others ( think Emerald Jungle ). Cannibal Ferox somehow feels like a cheap version of Cannibal Holocaust, with even more nastiness but it's all completely silly and boring. The things that made Cannibal Holocaust worth seeing aren't that good that you can make two movies with them without them getting old. Disgusting? Hey, I saw someone puke for half an hour at the weekend. Am I disgusted? No. Not even suprised. Disgust somehow loses impact when it's repetitive. And it is in Cannibal Ferox. I was also pissed by the fact that it's so obiously plain racist. Cannibal Holocaust at least had the sense to portray the white guys as complete asses. ( Spoiler: BTW, what exactly did these morons expect when they burn down their huts & rape their woman? If I was a cannibal tribe, I'd be cooking them 2 minutes after arrival!)

All in all, both movies had me feeling the same way as Faces of Death. Very tired. Movies just don't work when all they do is trying to say "LOOOOK! I AM DISGUUUUSTING!" Just what I think.

If you're interested in spaghetti-cannibal-movies then Cannibal Holocaust is worth a look. If you REALLY like it, I mean REALLY, consider seeing Cannibal Ferox.
