Possibly the best horror/sci-fi spoof after Young Frankenstien. People who don't like Steve Martin's earlier days won't like it but I just love the scene "If only she were dead." Girl get's hit by a motorcycle. "YEAH!" and the "need a body" scene. Questionable if it is a horror spoff but does have a very good cameo by pre- Re-Animator Jeffery Combs.

Agreed! And David Warner was brilliant in it too. Where does Jeffrey Combs appear? Don't remember seeing him.
Can anyone spell (let alone pronounce) the Dr.'s surname??
Fave scene - in the morgue. Martin: (sighing) Nothing really leaps out at me.
Morgue attendant: They are all *dead*, sir!
Zing!

IMDb lists the spelling of Steve Martin's character as: Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr (although the pronunciation is open to interpretation). Jeffery Combs appears as Dr. Jones, and for a little bit of trivia - the "talking brain" character (Anne Uumellmahaye) was voiced by Sissy Spacek.

I agree. A great film and in my opinion Steve Martin's funniest movie. My favorite scene is definitely the Merv Griffin cameo. Hilarious.

Hm...can't recall where I saw a Dr. Jones. I'll have to dig the vid out of my collection and watch it again. I did know Sissy Spacek provided the voice for Anne's brain. And it was terrific to see that Merv Griffin can laugh at himself.
Another fave moment: Martin addressing the Dr.'s conference, and receiving a lot of murmering from the crowd.
Martin: What are they saying?
Host: Oh, they are just murmering.
Martin: What...they're just saying "murmer"?? (This is indeed what the crowd is doing quietly.)
Host: Yes, just a general murmer...
Martin: (to the assembly): You can murmer all you want!
Assembly: MURMER! MURMER!! MURMER! MURMER!! MURMER...

I always though Jeff was the guy "shaving" Kathleen Turner before she got the operation. Valentines Day.

This is a fun film yet I always find myself getting horny when Kathleen Turner turns up. When she sucks on my... I mean his fingers it gets me riled up, and when she moans for me... I mean him it gets my juices flowing... I just mean that this film is not just funny but erotic at points... in a funny way...

Heh...if you like Kathleen Turner, you might want to check out "Julia and Julia" (or Giulia e Giulia if you're in Europe). The film's not great, but there's a scene where she cops off with Sting in a hotel room. They pretty much do every position imaginable. A good time was had by both, by the looks of things.
And her performance was good in it, too, as always. I really enjoy seeing her in a film.
