Help! (He ate snake eggs...)

Please - I need someone to tell me the name of an 80's scary movie. I can't remember too much about the movie, but I think the guy in it eats his son's snake eggs. There are also these pods...maybe the Dad was switched with an alien...the Dad acts nuts in this movie.

It used to be on TV all the time. My sister and I have been trying to think of the name of this movie for a long time. Any help would be appreciated!

I'm pretty sure you're talking about "XTRO".

I had to sit through it once during an all-night genre film-fest. Thankfully, it was shown around 2 or 3 in the morning, so I was able to sleep through most of it. Not the best film I've ever seen.

I do remember the downstairs neighbour, the old lady, killing the little boy's pet snake, so he somehow gets his action toys to attack her.
