I was just watching From Dusk Til Dawn the other day and I noticed that Tom Savini's name appeared in credits at the beginning of the film. I had seen some pictures of him in the past and I thought he played the character Sex Machine. Low and behold when the credits rolled at the end of the film I found out that I was correct.
I thought his acting job was very good in the film and when I checked his official website, I found out he's been in a few horror films as an actor.
What I was wondering was, can any of the schmoes name films that directors, musicians, writers, special effects artists, etc. appear as actors.
One of my favorites is David Cronenberg as the masked killer in NIGHT BREED.

well savini is in dawn of the dead as the famous "sledge". He kicked ass in that, he also kicked major ass in from dusk till dawn. George Romero has a cameo in Slience of the Lambs... alot of crew sneak their way to the screen.

I could be mistaken, but I believe it's Argento who plays the killer's hands in almost all of his films.

Yep, Savini and Romero were in Martin. Savini was the main character's cousin's boyfriend.
Romero was in Dawn of the Dead as well. He, along with his wife, were working in the studio in the beginning.
Also, Savini makes a cameo in Creepshow as a trashman.

Lucio Fulci is the main character in his Nightmare Concert(Ill Gatto nel Cervello), playing a director tormented by the horror films he makes. Argento does always use his own hands for the black gloved killer, and also has a quick cameo in Innocent Blood.
I also happen to love all of Steven King's cameo's in most of his movies.
Tobe Hooper is in TCM2 in a quick role as the person who throws some popcorn heheheh!

I believe Fulci played a short role in New York Ripper as a Detective? as well. And we can't forget Hitchcocks' Cameos in some of his films as well...albeit a Shadow or a passerby in the crowd.

Savini is the kickass mastermind behind DAWN OF THE DEAD and FRIDAY THE 13TH. My favorite makeup artist and favorite decapitating biker in DAWN OF THE DEAD. His remake of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD was even cool as his tribute to George Romero. Savini is awesome! I worship him!

John Landis makes an appearance in Tobe Hooper's Spontaneous Combustion, as a radio station engineer.
And if anyone else hasn't already mentioned it, you can see Sam Raimi at the beginning of Evil Dead - he's one of the fishermen at the roadside who waves at the passing car.

Hey Tom Savini is a genius no question, but have any of you guys seen "Innocent Blood"?
It was directed by John Landis and had abunch of cameos from some famous horror directors, including Dario Argento (as a paramedic) and Sam Raimi (as a meat packer).
Any other examples of horror master cameos?
